Diving and Snorkelling

Famed for its clear waters and beautifully idyllic shores, diving and snorkelling at Pemba Island is an experience you won't forget.

Home to some of the word's most wonderful, colourful and thriving coral reefs, the untouched water world here will take your breath away. There are a number of dive sites you can visit, including Shimba Wall, a great place to spot lionfish, and the Fundo Gap; an impeccable area of virtually untouched sites. If you're keen to see turtles swimming in the wild, head to Swiss Reef where your chances are high.

Pemba Island is also a great place to spot magnificent humpback whales in the wild; between August and late September, keep your eyes peeled as these marine giants migrate past the island, and arrange for a boat trip to spot the whales as they glide through the waters.

If you're not an experienced diver and would prefer something a little closer to the shore, most resorts have fantastic house reefs close by where the marine life is colourful, rich and amazing.
