Museums and Galleries

True works of art

With some of the best Canadian galleries and museums located in Toronto, make sure to squeeze a few exhibitions into your itinerary.

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), newly transformed by Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry, is Canada's premier art gallery and one of the largest in North America. Alongside the permanent collections of artwork from across the globe, the gallery features temporary exhibitions from world-famous artists.

Meanwhile, at the Ontario Science Centre, find out what it feels like to pilot a spacecraft or touch a tornado, and you won’t find a more Canadian day out than a tour of the Hockey Hall of Fame. We also recommend paying a visit to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) to discover almost six million artefacts, from Chinese art to Canadian heritage. Or for a more quirky experience, the Bata Shoe Museum features over 12,500 items of footwear, including Queen Victoria's ballroom slippers.
