what an amazing service & hospitality

From the moment we arrived that said everything how they welcomed us the cleanliness of the resort, the staff are amazing from the little tier to the highest tier. we will definitely recommend this resort & brand we have been to many places & hotels by far this the is the best

Great holiday - but a few issues to be sorted out at Al Waha

We stayed as a family of four at Al Waha during the UK half term break in February (so a generally busy time of year to be visiting). The hotel is in a great location with an excellent beach and good swimming pools to keep the kids entertained. The hotel transfer to and from hotel was smooth and efficient (albeit expensive). On arrival, we were checked in by Ria who was very courteous, explained the services of the hotel well and was very helpful. Our request for early check in was granted which was a massive help after an overnight flight with young children. The WhatsApp service to manage requests during your stay/provide information on events and facilities was a nice touch. The family room was well appointed and well set up for young kids (additional items such as kids toilet seats were provided) and water bottles were plentiful across the resort. From a dining perspective, there is a huge variety of outlets and options across the Al Jissah complex. We ate mostly at the Al Waha restaurants (Assira pool bar, Samba and Surf Cafe) where the food was decent. We also ate at Capri Court in Al Bandar which was excellent. I would also highly praise the service provided by the room service team looking after us in Al Waha which was outstandingly good. The provision of service around the pool/beach was also excellent, with towels and water provided and help offered where required. The Lazy River is a very nice touch and much appreciated by guests with families. However, despite our generally positive experience at the hotel it would be remiss not to mention a couple of negative aspects that bear further scrutiny. One general observation - the hotel was very busy during our stay so it is understandable that on occasion you may need to wait to be served at busy times of the day (e.g. breakfast time at Samba or lunchtime at the Assira pool bar). But the workforce seems to be largely staffed by juniors/trainees who were pretty unhelpful when we needed to chase up on orders/meals etc. On one occasion, after ordering we waited 40 mins without food (and with hungry children) despite inquiring several times. As it transpired, there had been an issue with the processing of our initial order but the junior waiting staff had simply told us that our food was on the way (when clearly it had not even been placed in the first place - they didnt even attempt to check or follow up). At Samba during breakfast hours, the junior staff appeared rushed off their feet and not able to deal with specific requests from guests (it almost felt that they had not been trained to answer questions) so only intervention from more senior managers helped us to actually get the service we needed. Samba staff were also far too aggressive in clearing plates away from the breakfast table (at one point I turned around to feed my daughter her breakfast and when I turned back my half eaten omelette had disappeared, without anyone asking me if I had finished!) This issue is not universal across the staff, and in this context I would like to specifically cite the service provided by Hari who went out of his way to ensure that our needs were met and feedback was taken on board. He worked incredibly hard and is a credit to the organisation. He was supported by Shibesh and Aditya in Assira pool bar who also did a good job. Alas, these individuals appear to be in the minority and I think the hotel ought to review its staffing/training policy to ensure that guests are not left frustrated by dealing primarily with junior staff members who simply don’t know what they are doing. Upon check out, there was an error on my final bill (I had been charged for an additional airport transfer). I challenged this and after some initial pushback, I was issued with a new invoice minus the additional charge. I have no issue with errors being made (human errors are always possible) but there was no attempt at all to apologise for this, which left a sour taste in the mouth as we left the hotel. Overall, however, a very good hotel with great facilities and some high quality staff. But there remains a few issues that need to be dealt with for the hotel to justify its high price and aspirational status.
