Waiheke Island is well known for its excellent varieties of wine, with vineyards and cellar doors dotted throughout the town and countryside. Take a wine tasting tour and admire the beautiful views before pairing a variety of bottles with succulent local produce, or explore the beaches and coves on foot or by bike. Our experts recommend Cable Bay Vineyards which offers sunset views from grassy slopes which lead down to the Hauraki Gulf.

Set out on an optional day tour around the Bay of Islands. You may be lucky enough to spot dolphins. Next, take a scenic flight tour over Cape Reinga, which is the most northerly point in New Zealand. Take in the scenery from above before stopping for a guided walk through the landscapes. You also have a chance to see Cape Reinga lighthouse, scenic Tapotupotu Bay and Te Paki’s sand dunes before your flight back to the hotel.

Travel 225km south to Auckland, where you will spend the evening. Stay at the chic Pullman Hotel, where you can enjoy modern surroundings and a host of amenities. Arrive earlier in the afternoon and book one of our optional tours. The Auckland Harbour Coffee Cruise allows you to see the city’s attractions from the harbour, as well as taking you to Devonport’s former naval base and Rangitoto Island’s volcanic scenery.

Our Wilderness Experience – Bush and Beach tour takes you to the city’s main attractions, before taking you to the top of Mount Victoria for views over Auckland. For panoramic city views from a different angle, head to the top of the Sky Tower.

Next stop on your luxury New Zealand tour is Rotorua, which is 251km away and home to hot mud pools, spouting geysers, sparkling lakes and a fascinating Māori culture. Head to your luxury accommodation, Solitaire Lodge, where you can enjoy spectacular lake views, and surrounding volcanic landscapes.

Explore the lake by kayak or motorised dinghy, available to rent from the hotel, or spend the day on the beach, which is within easy walking distance. The wetlands trail is ideal for those wanting to spot colourful birds and other wildlife. For a more relaxing activity, visit one of the spas where you can unwind in natural geothermal pools.
