Attraction

Swakopmund and Walvis Bay

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Namibia holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

Namibia’s adventure sports capital, Swakopmund is filled with surfers, anglers and beach lovers, as well as adrenaline junkies looking to quad bike, snowboard the dunes or skydive.

The town still bears its German origins, which you can see in the old German Colonial buildings and the old German colonisations museum. Visit the Swakopmund Museum to find out more about the town's history, and have a wander through the Old German Cemetery where you'll find historical tombstones from the colonial era.

Located some 30km away from Swakopmund, you'll find Walvis Bay; nestled on a stunning ocean road and home to plenty of sea birds, pelicans and flamingos. The lagoon is Walvis Bay's main feature, and is one of the most important wetlands in South Africa. We also recommend visiting Sandwich Harbour, a freshwater lagoon that's popular with ornithologists and anglers.
