Medjumbe:Paradise island in Mozambique, back to basics luxury, lovely staff with very little things to improve.

5 days/ 4 nights wonderful stay at Medjumbe. We didn't want to leave. Few hiccups to start with at Pemba airport for unpaid invoices so our helicopter transfer got delayed. this shouldnt happen. Suitcase arrived 2 days later from Jo'burg. Once this resolved it was a wonderful blissful stay. Back to basics luxury, 40 ish minutes Helicopter ride from Pemba airport was amazing and smooth with a lovely overview of the island on arrival. Great Pilot for archipelago company. Thank you. we had the island for ourselves: 2 guests only untill our departure. The island is beautiful, authentic, the wooden bungalows are spread along the beach witch is divided in 2 at the lobby/restaurant building. Nothing like the Maldives here everything is authentic, good taste and back to basics Wifi a bit weak but who needs that in paradise? maybe to post on social medias some wonderful sunset or early mornings pictures but that's it. Number 10 to 14 are the best, very private from the beach and away from the restaurant and generators noise. The renovated bungalows are very nicely done, vibrant colors but chic at the same time, proper wooden floor, big bathroom with 2 sinks, bathtub, separate shower and outdoor shower with sea and garden views. Anantara amenities and choice of soap. lovely large wrapround terrace with sunbeds, large L shape sofa and table with chairs 2 large armchairs with the most amazing seaview and a plunge pool. To be honest the nature, the sea colors and the island were so inviting that we never used the pool. 2 Hats, 2 beach bags, 2 pareos and flip flops were provided. Turn down every night with fresh towels and anything that needed to be replinish. very efficient. Fruit basket and a bottle of wine on arrival.Mina bar with soft drinks, water and beers. Nespresso coffee machine kettle and premium teas and infusions. We were on all inclusive package which included nearly everything. Breakfast at the main restaurant was very very good and everything was on order from the menu: freshly baked every morning croissant, Pasteis de nata and bread coming hot from the oven. Freshly squeezed juice and made to order eggs.Lobster omelette fresh tropical fruits and what a view, AMAZING. We initially thought that 4 nights were going to be too long but we were wrong we could have stayed another week easily. The morning walks at low tide were the most amazing walks I have ever done. The nature was amazing, shades of blues greys navy and greens. Literally kilometers of none stop walk sand banks. Paradise!!!! Charles and his team made everything possible. well well done and thank you We prefered light lunch or none and went for lovely sunset aperitivos at different locations on the island which were wonderful. this time we had different shades of yellow, orange greens and pink. I will always remember those moments. Every day dinners were different experiences. Dine by design all the way along: Tent romantic dinner in front of our bungalow one night and surprise Bday cake came with all the staff wishing me happy bday singing in portuguese. Lovely touch. Another night a table on the sand in front of the main Lobby/Restaurant building, torch lite. amazing star sky we even ask to switch all the island lights to see the stars and they did. Another night was at hidden garden spot under trees. Activities were plenty to choose from: snorkling on the reef, a boat ride from the island, kayaking not so good hahahahah. deep tissue massage at the spa blissful with the sound of the waves in the background. The spa is a transformed bungalow meters away from the sea. Day DELUXE picnic at Quirimba private island is a must. BBQ with Lobsters, beef filet king fish grilled your way with salads and sides under palm trees. and lovely little house on the beach for a lazy nap. Snorkeling there was great too. Meters away from the shore. And another lovely sunset aperitivo on the beach. You could go scuba diving as well we prefered lazying on the island that day. Cant wait to go back. Once again we want to thank Charles and his team for the most amazing holidays. Great job!! well well done and keep up with the efforts. Just one thing: Please put the local octopus curry which was amazing and a little bite variety of mozambican dishes.
