Fabulous

London, United Kingdom

Beautiful, quiet and remote with top quality food and services but quite pricy. Scuba with Turtles, Reef sharks, Eals, large Parrot fish, groupers, etc and snorkelling with a Dugong is absolutely amazing.

Nice place but too expensive

We had a good time at Anantara Bazaruto but I can't say that we had an exceptional time. The pros: - The people and the service - The beach villas with private pools The cons: - The price - The arrival and transfer from the airport to the hotel and back. They are long, not personalized and they don't make you feel that you are having a unique experience. - The authenticity of the hotel. It definitely lacks of character. It looks like any other beach hotel that you can go in the world - The food: the lunch menu is the same everyday and does not offer much variety (pizza and pasta...). Dinner is better but definitely not great food. Breakfast is like any other continental breakfast in the world. Only good point is the table service with very nice waiters and waitresses (Ernesto in particular) - The main disappointment is the activities. We just arrived and we were bombarded by suggestions of activities. They are all extremely expensive compared to other resorts we have been to. To be clear we paid 900 USD a night at Anantara. We have been to many other resorts in the world where we paid much less per night and at least got some snorkeling or sunset cruise activities included. At Anantara everything is overpriced and you can clearly see that they are only looking to make you pay more while you already paid a fortune to arrive there. Big disappointment. All in all, I would not recommend going to Anantara Bazaruto just because of the price to value that you are getting. I have spent the 5 days there wondering why it is so expensive. I'm not sure where all the money goes. We have been to a tour of the villages nearby and I can assess that the money is not going there either (no electricity and no water). To finish, Mozambique is an expensive country. So even though the beaches are nice and not too crowded, I think there are many other places in the world which can offer pretty much the same experience but at a lower price. I would recommend going to Palawan or Vietnam where you have even more beautiful beaches and resorts for half the price of Mozambique.
