Wonderfully secluded

London, United Kingdom

Ideal for you if you ever want to switch off from the rest of the world for a few days. Make sure you you book one of the Berber Tents. The service and food are amazing, the friendly staff really look after you, no need to leave the place - unless you want to explore the Atlas Mountains...

Rooms with a view!!

Hillsborough, Northern Ireland

It was hard to only give 4 stars for Kasbah Tamadot as so much was deserving of 5 stars but there were a few things which could have been improved upon. The setting is gorgeous as are the grounds and we loved our rooms. We we staying 5 nights and had to switch rooms during the trip as the hotel was fully booked. This was no problem and we were glad to try different rooms as one was in the main building and one was a Berber tent. The room in the building was on 2 levels, bedroom and bathroom downstairs and a small lounge and huge terrace upstairs. It was very private and the upper terrace had superb views. The room was named ‘Tafoukt’ and if we are lucky enough to return I would request it! The Berber ‘tent’ was spectacular and we loved it too. Unfortunately it rained in the afternoons during our stay and we weren’t able to enjoy using the deck and plunge pool. The ‘tent‘ was situated in the grounds and was very private. We really enjoyed breakfast and lunch on the terrace. We tried Moroccan style dishes where possible and also Moroccan wine which was very good indeed and I would certainly recommend it. The hotel has a maze of courtyards and private areas to sit and read or just chill out, all very different and very tasteful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed interacting with them. The Spa and pool area were great as were our treatments. Why then only 4 stars? As mentioned we stayed 5 nights and whilst I (carnivore) had no problem having a variety in my meals my wife (vegetarian) had to repeat her choice several times. The vegetable tagine was on both lunch and dinner menus and whilst she enjoyed it there weren’t many alternatives available to her. We enjoyed the main restaurant but I thought the tablecloths and chairs were out of keeping with the rest of the hotel which is vibrant and distinctly Moroccan as they were very ‘old school’ all white fine dining style. My main irritant was that we received a note from the hotel inviting everyone to join the management on the terrace for a complimentary drink before dinner so that people could interact. We have enjoyed this kind of event at other hotels and decided to attend. When we got to the terrace however there was only one other couple. We were offered a drink and accepted but by the time we finished it there was still no sign of any kind of reception. I just found it unusual to send an invitation to something which didn’t happen. After checking out I think I found that we were charged for the drinks which were potentially meant to be complimentary. The final point is that the room guide mentioned that on occasion a film was shown on a big screen by the pool in the evening. On one evening returning from dinner we noticed that the screen was up and a film being shown. Had we received notice we would have altered our dining time in order to enjoy this. To sum up we received an invitation to something that didn’t take place and didn’t receive one to an event that did. These are small points in the big scheme of things but I felt I ought to mention them. We would certainly recommend Kasbah Tamadot as apart from those points it was superb. I mustn’t forget to mention the Berber Shop which adjoins the gardens. It is amazing and Fatima and Hussein are terrific people whose company we thoroughly enjoyed! We bought several items and struggled to resist buying more!!
