Tip Top Service

We spent a week at Secrets Vallarta Bay. The seaside location was beautiful and watching sunsets from our balcony was a treat almost every night. The room was first class from the bedding to the jacuzzi tub to the super sized shower. And the staff treated us very well. Special thanks to the front entrance hostess Alejandra, Carlos the waiter at Oceana Cafe and the buffet greeter Cora and all the buffet waiter Oscar. Each night there is a show on site. Our favorite was the Fire Show. The beach was perfect for walking and the multiple pools were set up for activities or relaxing or lounging. The club reps Atef and Fernanda took good care of us, too. We'll be back is the highest praise I can give.

Excellent resort

Cleveland, Ohio

This first part has nothing to do with the hotel but arriving at the airport. As soon as you get your luggage walk through what is known as the "shark tank" where they will try to get you sucked into a time share pitch. Don't believe them when they tell you that they are with the company you booked with they are not. They will tell you a lot of things to distract you but keep walking and ignore them. Now onto the hotel. I stayed in the preferred club room while I stayed here. The room was amazing and never had an issue with the mini fridge or anything like that. There was a dehumidifier in the room as well. I had a garden view so I was down lower but you still have a great view of the pool area and ocean. The Jacuzzi on the balcony was nice as well. The room service was great every day and restocked as needed. I'm not sure what the difference is between the preferred club and the regular rooms are other than a jacuzzi tub on the balcony. There were no other perks with staying in the preferred club that I could tell honestly. The service by the pools was outstanding!! This is by far the best resort I have stayed at when it comes to pool side drink service. They always ensured you had a drink and were always happy and shaking hands and saying hello every morning. They truly enjoyed their job. The one server I recall was Rodriguez at the pool was my favorite. The pools are very nice as well and the pool area doesn't fill up fast. The think I also liked about the resort is there was no card for towels nor any wrist band for the resort. Every morning there would be towels on the chairs, so if you go and see towels on the chair rolled up that means that chair is available. This was different as it leads you to believe at first they are all saved but that is not the case. You can also are not limited to just one towel either. The service in the restaurant's were good. The favorite place I ate it here was the hibachi restaurant by far. In the Italian restaurant and Mexican I ordered desserts but they never came so I just left. Also in the buffet area it always seemed like they were hiding to where you could get an omelette made or a steak. The snack bar by the pool was fantastic as well and had a nice selection of food. I also used room service a few times and it took almost an hour each time to get the food so factor that in. They do have nice little ipads in the room where you order the room service from and you can also request other things from the ipad which I found to be awesome. You can also see what the daily events are on there as well and wish more resorts would have them. The nightly entertainment was usually a band in the lobby and I never went and saw any of the shows so I can't comment about those. The band they had for the lobby in the evenings was good and they played late into the evening. The one thing I wish they would do is install ceiling fans in the lobby area to keep the air moving. There isn't much a breeze there and ceiling fans would make a word of difference in your comfort there. As others have stated the beach area is rocky to say the least. The first day I got there they had waves of probably 8-10ft tall slamming into the beach. It actually woke me up a couple times the waves were so loud at night but as the week went along the water got more calm and returned to normal. The water also isn't the blue clear water either. It's not the resorts fault the beach is this way any means and you can't help what mother nature does. Over all this was a great resort and I would say if you're looking for a great resort in Puerto Vallarta you won't be disappointed here. There were a few minor things but overall I had a wonderful experience at this resort and I stayed here for a week. If I were to return to Puerto Vallarta I would stay here again.
