A Few Days at Zoetry

Spring Grove, IL

We were in room 302 - top floor. The top floors have vaulted ceilings with brick on them. They are very beautiful. Views were great and hot tub. Shower was huge and also had an ocean view. The room needs an outlet near the mirror in the bedroom so two people can get ready at the same time. Beds were small, but there isn't room for a bigger bed and I know the hotel is older. Room had nice amenities, but I wish they would have reminded us about free phone calls. The hotel is small and intimate and easy to get around. The pools are all in a row - the main pool (it's too deep - over most people's heads), the hot tub with ocean water, and the adults only pool. They were never too busy, but service around the pool was terrible. I am not high maintenance, but for a small hotel that is part of AM Resorts, you expect poolside service. Everyone else seemed to get it, I was on the deck near the adults only pool, and never had anyone come around to offer me one of the juices that they serve, the cucumber massage, or a regular drink. I got my own drinks at Rolandi's, but then, I told them that I wasn't getting service. Finally, when it was almost time to turn in, someone asked if I wanted a drink without me asking. I find that to be unacceptable. It's really unfortunate because the rest of our stay was great. They should be going out of their way to accommodate all guests. We tried the French/Mexican restaurant, but found the food to be too different for our tastes and the portions were very small. We loved Villa Rolandi, but if you were staying for a week or longer, it might get very old. The pastas, salads, steaks and desserts were all amazing. I did not like any of the alcoholic drinks. I thought they might be better quality here, but they still tasted like kerosene. We had a delightful drink at another adults only hotel on the island. The ride over on the Cocoon was nice, but our weather cooperated as well. The Front Desk Staff was very helpful. They had one musician playing a flute at Villa Rolandi. It was nice dinner music, but there was no other entertainment, which is disappointing. We went back to our room early and there weren't any U.S. stations on T.V. The front desk staff said there were a few and gave us the numbers, but they were not in English. We heard other guests complaining about this too. Renting the golf cart from the resort is the best option. Taxi to town, rent card, return to hotel. No need to show ID, Passport, etc. There is nothing for kids to do. I would highly recommend making this an adults only resort. With a few changes, this hotel could be fantastic!

Just so so

Chincoteague Island, Virginia

I went to this Zoetry a few weeks ago and was disappointed. I have been to Mexico at least 15 times before and stayed at Secrets resorts. My husband and I wanted to try Zoetry as I thought it was even more pampering and more inclusive. I was wrong. No entertainment to speak of and the variety of food and drinks does not come close to Secrets resorts. Zoetry is a part of AM resorts so I thought it was an upgrade to go to a Zoetry. I was mistaken. I will return to Mexico because it is a beautiful country and the people are so inviting but I will stick with the Secrets resorts. I would recommend Secrets Akumal and Maroma to anyone looking for a great resort.
