A popular choice for luxury in Mauritius

Set on 62 acres of tropical grounds on the north-west coast at Turtle Bay Marine National Park, Maritim Resort & Spa is 20 minutes by road from Port Louis and Grand Baie, and offers some of the best experiences this side of the island. With such a short drive from the shopping and nightly hot spots of the town, back at the hotel you'll find reassuringly elegant and luxurious facilities and activities, with rooms offering calm and relaxing interiors with balconies or terraces as well as spacious bathrooms and other exclusive additions.

Take to the water with kayaking and diving, or play a couple of rounds at the professionally designed 9-hole golf course. For something altogether more relaxing, visit the hotel spa and enjoy a plethora of relaxing treatments and facilities. There is a choice of four restaurants plus a feet-in-the-sand beer garden pub and a fine dining like no where else on the island at the romantic Chateau Mon Desir Restaurant — a popular choice located inside a colonial-style mansion.

  • Beautiful tropical setting
  • Great for families
  • 9-hole professionally designed golf course
  • Home to the famous Chateau Mon Desir Restaurant

Amazing Hotel and Grounds

Preston, United Kingdom

We recently returned from Mauritius and our stay at the Maritim Spa Hotel was wonderful until an incident on the last day. The Hotel is set in beautiful grounds which includes some ruins and a waterfall which are well kept and looked after by many gardeners. The Estate is huge and the staff use electric vehicles to move around. Horses and Giant Tortoises are looked after on the estate, there is a golf course, and children appear to be well catered for. The spa is absolutely beautiful and so very relaxing. Our room was a Prestige room, which was spacious and kept clean by housekeeping staff. Sometimes it was late afternoon before they arrived to service the room which was an inconvenience rather than a problem. We were entitled to use La Maree for breakfast which we did on a number of occasions. Ishwaree runs the restaurant and knows all of her guests preferences. We were always welcomed there and the views of the sea and the beach were amazing. The food was freshly cooked and worth upgrading to a Prestige room for the privilege of eating breakfast there. The buffet was a bit hit and miss but generally we both could find something. It was a little off putting to see birds flying around the restaurant although I realise it is a feature of the hotel for the restaurant to be open plan. The food did get very repetitive and we mainly ate in La Maree. The best night in the buffet was Sunday and a real fish extravaganza. The first time I had tried Sea Urchin. We ate once at the Asian Banyan restaurant which was very good but with limited choices for All Inclusive guests. The pool area was excellent with two pools linked together, one was an infinity pool with a swim up bar. As we are early risers we never had a problem getting a sunbed by the pool but they were taken very quickly. The bar staff were all attentive but one young man in particular deserves a special mention. Shivan is a star. He is a trainee and only there for a few months before returning to India to finish his Hotel Management degree. He never stopped, was always polite and remembered our drink preferences. I can’t praise this young man highly enough. The Quarterdeck bar is also the place to see the most amazing sunsets. The beach looked amazing but the water quite cloudy. There is a steep shelf as you walk into the water and it takes quite a bit of effort to get out again. The snorkelling trips and Glass Bottom boat trips out to the reef were included and ran twice a day unless the weather prevented them. The water over the reef was very clear and lots of sea life to see. I took my own snorkel and fins but the boat house does supply these. The incident on the last day was fairly trivial but worth mentioning. I realised whilst I was getting changed in the departure room that I had left my make up mirror on the desk in the room. I went to reception to ask if someone could retrieve it but although housekeeping looked it wasn’t there and hadn’t been handed in. We had read reports about minor pilfering at the hotel and had been careful to put all valuables out of sight and in the safe. It is disappointing to think that a member of staff who had access to our room all holiday thought it was okay to take the mirror instead of handing it into reception or lost property.

Overall Good !

I would say an amazing complex ! Buffet at the main restaurant is not that great.. But what made our stay exceptional and memorable was the service delivered by the youngest staff waiter Ganesha. He is really helpful, friendly and work very hard to make sure you are happy. He will go a long way ! My friends and i are content with our stay. Would be happy to visit again.
