Great value hotel with lots of facilities

Beaconsfield, United Kingdom

Just back from 10 day stay at this hotel . We had a fab time but you will see some complaints on the site - think the only thing I agree with from our experience is that if you arrive early you can wait until 3pm for your room. But it does say that on web site clearly and they do provide room to shower and change . We were prepared and had swim suits on top of case so chilled on beach 🏖 Water sports great , waterskiing really fun - great team to help out for all your needs thx guys. Good food , not all Michelin stars ( try the chateau for that) , specialty dining great experiences - book early ( several good choices free but others have additional cost which surprised some guests ) and buffet has good range but great value. Waiters are friendly they try and help out really well in 3 languages, so sometimes a small glitch in jokes happen . Beach service is fab including great fish and chips as snack - ask for beach snack menu as it’s not clear that you can get food from your sunbed along with your drinks . Cocktails in evening at beach bar lethal and fun , fab place to enjoy stunning views with great guitarist It’s not a new hotel, it’s established with many clients returning Year on year - that says everything. True it’s not cutting edge luxury but they don’t charge in that league either. Will return .

Quiet and relaxing but plenty of things to do

London, United Kingdom

We spent 10 days at the Maritim from 14-23 October. Stayed AI in a prestige room. Room was plenty large enough for two adults and a child; it had a big bathroom with separate shower room, plenty of toiletries and amenities, bottled water and a nice outdoor terrace. Housekeeping was excellent. The hotel grounds are extremely attractive and spaced over a wide area. The beach was very clean and the sunbeds, bean bag beds and towels were plentiful and replenished when requested. The drinks/snacks service by the beach was very good - as soon as our 'service' flag went up, someone came to take our order straight away. The pool area is lovely. We never had any trouble getting a lounger either by the pool or at the beach. The pool was never full/busy and, in fact, the hotel never felt busy at all, even though it was at near-full occupancy. Some mornings there was aqua aerobics in the main pool which was fun. There is also a swim-up bar which has great views of the beach. Ring the bell on the side of the pool and someone comes to take your drinks order! The AI menus were extremely easy to understand. In all restaurants it is clear what is included as part of B&B, HB, AI or Premium AI. The range of food and drink was varied on the AI package we had - we didn't have a problem with variety or feel the need to pay for any extras at all. We visited all the restaurants at the hotel - the breakfast buffet was excellent and very well stocked. The evening buffet was similar - lots of choice and variety, with live music on one occasion. The asian/fusion restaurant was good - choice was a little limited (for me, as I don't eat fish or seafood) but the food was excellent. The Filaos beach barbecue is a great experience - dining on the sand while a guitarist plays and sings. La Maree is great for lunch or dinner - really nice during the day sitting on the edge of the beach. Word of warning on the restaurants: BOOK IN ADVANCE. We arrived on a Sunday and on Monday, we discovered that we couldn't get a booking at any of the restaurants for dinner until Thursday. This was annoying but it didn't spoil our holiday, however, I can see that it would be very frustrating/upsetting for some guests. As I say, BOOK BEFORE YOU ARRIVE or at the very least, do it while while you are checking in. The Quarterdeck bar is lovely and is open all day. In the evening there was live music and it is a great spot for people watching and relaxing before or after dinner. The staff there are lovely! The hotel has excellent sport facilities included as part of AI packages including kayaking, pedalo boats, paddle boarding, glass bottom boat trips etc. For an extra charge there is water skiing and sea-mattressing as well as various excursions - it was great fun enjoying a cocktail in the infinity pool while watching my husband and son falling off paddle boards in the sea! The boat house team is excellent - very accommodating and helpful. Spa facilities were excellent and reasonably priced. My husband and 12 year old son had a 'bro evening' at the spa and had a great time. Our son was nervous as he'd never been to a spa but he really enjoyed his garden facial and massage. 'Wildlife': a few reviewers have mentioned that there are lots of cats and dogs roaming around the hotel grounds. This is NOT true. We saw 4 cats and 1 dog in ten days and they were absolutely no bother at all. If you ignore them and don't feed or encourage them, they keep their distance. There are plenty of birds, lizards and frogs about though - and huge bats! Amazing to look at and reminds you that you are in a tropical country. SOME TIPS: 1. Book restaurants for dinner before or as soon as you arrive! 2. If you arrive before 2pm, there is a chance that your room might not be ready. Don't' worry! Staff will take your suitcases and you can start enjoying the hotel facilities, but perhaps pack a small rucksack with a swimming costume/flip flops etc so that if your room isn't ready, you can start having fun straight away. We arrived at midday and our room was ready at 3. We checked in, had lunch, went for a stroll then a swim and it didn't matter what time the room was ready. 3. Visit the grounds of the Chateau Mon Desir on foot (10 mins from the boathouse) or by pedalo or kayak along the Citron River. There is also a tortoise sanctuary there (near the equestrian centre) which is worth a visit. All in all we had a great holiday and found the facilities at the Maritim very good. We like a quiet, relaxing holiday and this was just what we needed. There is lots to do in the hotel and grounds but there is a shuttle service from the hotel to various places for those who want to explore a bit more. Big thumbs up to Sabrina in the Quarterdeck bar! x
