Heaven

Manchester, United Kingdom

Eventually get to this hotel after an hours road transfer and were immediately impressed. The entrance was breath taking and the welcome from the staff was superb. We were shown around and ourbagstaken to our room . We were all inclusive so soon got into the. Cocktails. The pace of the place is very relaxed, no kids, everyone just chilling. The food was excellent and the service very good. People tended to get together around the bar at night and many a good night was had. The entertainment each night was great with the rum receptions very interesting . All staff very helpful. The place was spotless and my wife enjoyed the daily towel sculptures. We had a day out on the catamaran with the dancing captain and can highly recommend if you want a day out chilling. Overall top class and a great way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Beautiful place, bad service

Berlin, Germany

The hotel was beautiful. Very nice design both inside and in the open air spaces. The beach is very nice. The room was big and the bed very nice. The view was the best of it. They could use some new furniture (the table was all scratched and with very old marks) and the cleaning was meanly ok, although some places were never cleaned (like the upper shelves in the bathroom) but in general was ok. The breakfast was ok but the coffee was terrible. The food was also ok. The travel agent from ‘connections" that comes to see you and sell you tours didn’t come on the first day so we had to reschedule. When we finally met him we realized that their prices are exactly double the price than the little place just around the corner. It’s called sun tropical tours, we really liked her and the tours were super nice. Our biggest problem was the service. (Restaurant service, we weren't much around the bar, we've heard good things about that) There were soo many waiters and yet it took them ages to come to ask you if you wanted something to drink. When we sat at the very end (close to the water) no one ever came, it’s like a free zone. We heard many people complaining about the same area. Everything looks VERY unorganized. Looks as if there was no system at all. The waiters look very scared, always running around in a rush but not really trained to work with people. We saw they grabbing cutlery, touching all of it. Looks as if they didn't have any experience at all. There is no service at all by the pool, so if you want a drink or something to eat you have to go and ask in every restaurant and bar till you find where they have what you want. It would be so much easier to have the same service all around. And also, much nicer to have someone coming to take your order, since you are in all inclusive kind of hotel and you just want to sit and enjoy. We wanted to eat something (for lunch but it was actually in the afternoon) and it was a complete disaster. We couldn’t order the food in our room service menu at the beach restaurant so they made us go to the restaurant inside. There, they told us to order at the bar. When we got to the bar, a waiter told us that the lunch was closing because it was 3 (we guessed he meant for the All inclusive, but we were half-board) anyway, we asked if we could order something from the menu and he said yes. We order a burger and a panini at 3.10 pm. We sat outside. After 20 min we went and asked if there was any problem and of course (because there are sooo many waiters) it was another person and he didn’t have a clue. After 40 minutes I went and asked at the reception if they could find out what was going on. Big fuzz. She brings another guy (manager of something I think) who explains that we ordered out of time (which we already knew) and that must be the problem. After a short while, we get the food. Next day we were talking to the travel agent and this came to the conversation. He went and call the “restaurant manager” who we explained AGAIN what had happened. He told us over and over again (with a pretty unfriendly tone!) that it was our fault because after 3 there is no more food. We asked why, then, in the room you have a ‘room service menu’ that says you can order from 8 am to 10 pm. And he replied that that’s a different thing, because .. THEY USE A DIFFERENT PART OF THE KITCHEN for that…. amazing… !!! That was such a funny excuse, or if it is like that, really really not smart thing to do. Late on that day, he saw as at the bar and asked if we were gonna be there the day before and we said no, because we had a tour booked and he asked ‘the day after?’ and we again said no because of the same reason. Then, he said he wanted to invite us to a free lunch because of the inconvenience but if we weren’t there…. (!!!) we still had a complete week!! but well.. that’s how their customer service works… he ended up bringing us some drinks instead. Again, no feeling of how to treat people at all. The bar never knows if you are all inclusive or half board. Sometimes we ordered the bill and they said ‘it was ok’ . We were never sure if it was some kind of nice gesture (?) or if they were clueless. When we left, we also had on our account a couple of drinks that we never had. The dress code is also quite funny. Men are required to wear shirts with sleeves, no flip flops and shorts covering the knee, while women could wear whatever. (meaning flip flops, super short shorts, tops) It looks a little unfair and unnecessary. It would be so much easier to put the same rules for everyone. Besides, we saw many people wearing whatever they wanted which just makes you feel stupid for caring. Again, place is very pretty, could have worked so much better if we had felt 'a little bit' more cared for. Wouldn't come back, restaurant evenings were way too much stress for a holiday.
