On this short tour explore the beautiful jungle landscapes with a longboat ride up the Lemanak River and embark on a city tour of Kuching itself and visit a traditional longhouse. The beauty of this tour is at the end - once you have got a taste for this destination, we've built in a couple of days relaxing on the beach on before you fly back to Kota Kinabalu.

Itinerary Breakdown

Today you will transfer to The East Malaysian state of Sarawak, on the north west coast of Borneo. This areas is famously known as "Land of the Hornbill" and of Head-hunters, be sure to keep a keen eye open to spot the Hornbills. From your flight on arrival to Kuching, transfer to your hotel and have the rest of the day is at your leisure.

With a packed lunch in tow this part of the journey takes you through lush green countryside dotted with padi fields, pepper gardens and rubber plantations, and flanked by rugged jungle-clad mountains. Along the way, stop off at the Serian farmer’s market and see carnivorous pitcher plant. Stop for lunch at Lachau, a small town on the way to the longhouse, then arrive at Batang Ai Hydro Lake where your journey will take you across the lake into the Engkari Rvier, one of the many tributaries flowing into the lake. On arrival at the Mengkak Longhouse, nestled on a hill beside the river, enjoy a tour of the longhouse followed by a short cultural dance and demonstration of blowpipe shooting before returning downriver and transferring to your hotel.

After breakfast, depart for Kuching via the same scenic route as yesterday with a visit to a pepper garden. Lunch will be taken en route, on arrival at Damai Beach check into your hotel where you will spend two nights. The rest of your day is at leisure.

After an early breakfast, depart for a city tour of Kuching, covering the Sarawak Museum, Malay Village and Fort Margherita. Return to your hotel by lunch time and the rest of the day is at leisure.

Transfer to Kuching airport for your flight back to Kota Kinabalu, from here continue on your onward journey, or alternatively extend your stay in Kota Kinabalu for a few nights.
