Not a real club experience

London

Whilst we enjoyed our stay here and the staff were very friendly the extra we paid for the club was not up to standard. The cocktail hour we found the service sporadic and slow, on one occasion we were not offered any food only a bowl of nuts. You cannot help yourself to anything only soft drinks, so you are at the mercy of a skeleton staff. Just not worth it and certainly not up to other hotels standard. I asked to borrow a bottle opener for my favourite wine this series to cause much turbulence and finally resulted in a lady comming to the room and opening it for us. The Spa was excellent both staff and experience indeed one of the best we have experienced, with a unique design and decor. This hotel is a lovely colonial hotel and I would recommend booking a standard room as the club experience is not worth it.

Disgraceful Behaviour !

Huddersfield, United Kingdom

We called into this hotel for 2 reasons 1) to have some cocktails 2) to make a decision on whether to book the hotel as part of a colonial tour. Firstly we went to the Smoke House. 3 cocktails, which I question the alcohol content ( they were tasteless) 1 complimentary stale nuts and Plantain crisps. We moved on to the Piano lounge/restaurant and chose 2 gins and a glass of champagne, these drinks also came with complimentary snacks and were great. Then comes the most unbelievable thing you won’t believe it! We sat at the bar and watched the barman open and decant a non branded whisky into a famous grouse bottle! Then the same with gin into a beefeater bottle and then with vodka.... we were absolutely astounded that this was happening and should have confronted the Barman then and there! Instead my brother decided to speak to the management team. After a conversation with the drinks/beverage manager getting absolutely no where, no explanation , no apology, he asked for the general manager who was unavailable. He then spoke to the duty manager and got no where again, saying he would investigate the matter. I don’t believe an employee of a hotel would do anything like that without being instructed to! Our next step will be to contact the general manager and the Accord group. In the meantime don’t trust what you drink at this hotel is what you believe it to be. And putting this hotel or their sister hotel The Malacca Hotel Into our tour are most definitely off the cards.
