Sepilok Orangutan Centre

See the Humans of The Forest and the amazing work of the centre

This is your chance to see those 'wild men of Borneo', the flame-haired orangutans, in their natural habitat. The centre has been rescuing orphaned baby orang-utans since 1964,

Sepilok is an old forest reserve, where orphaned or captured orangutans are rehabilitated, protected and eventually returned back to the wild. Since the establishment of Sepilok more than 100 orangutans have been rehabilitated into the wild. To get more acquainted with the orangutan, you'll have an opportunity to witness the feeding of the young orphans

The reserve in total is 43 sq km of protected land allowing the orangutans plenty of space, however feeding time brings them back together at the viewing platform if they decide to come. Enjoy seeing these long-armed creatures swinging through the trees and the great work of the Sepilok Orangutan Centre.

Lunch is taken in the historic town of Sandakan, and after you will continue your trip to Sim-Sim water village, the oldest water village in Sabah built on stilts on water.
