Impressive Hospitality

Subang Jaya, Malaysia

It took about one hour from KK airport to Shangrila Rasa Ria Resort. Friendly staff and after checkin we were told the conference which I am suppose to attend is held at the Shangrila Tanjong Aru. Thanks to Mr John who was very helpful from the time of checkin, rechecked the conference venue and arrange for our transfer to Shangrila Tanjong Aru. Nevertheless the short time in the room gave us the impression it is a great place for retreat. It will be in our list for future family outing. Also the attention given to us displayed by Mr John speaks volume for the care and hospotality the hotel provides to its guests. Keep it up Mr John..cheers.

Not super luxurious or friendly but nice enough

Stayed 4 nights as part of a honeymoon trip. Stayed in ocean wing room and have to say, the best part of this was the evening drinks and canapes. The 3 guys that come in with guitars were brilliant and the second they started singing, the atmosphere changed and everyone was happy. Their music was brilliant and we'd usually find that kind of thing annoying. If I was having some event there, I would hire them in a heartbeat. Sorry, i dont know their names. Breakfast was fantastic, such a spread and really something for everyone. Food in the evenings was so so. The garden terrace was always packed and selection wasn't great. Indian restaurant was ok and the italian was ok but all pricey. Thats my main issue is that everything is expensive! In a 4 night stay we parted with 1700 euro and that just covered a facial, B&B and dinner in the evenings, no lunch or snacks and outside the buffet, just main courses. For that kind of money i would have expected more. The room is a little dated. By the time we got here, we had stayed in a few hotels in Borneo and as we were on honeymoon, everywhere went to some kind of effort for us, not so much in the shangri la, we were just more guests in a massive hotel and after check in, no one ever mentioned our honeymoon again. To summarise, It's a nice large, impersonal hotel in the middle of nowhere but not worth the price tag.
