Louisiana’s plantations give a captivating insight into an important time of history in the USA. The plantations often feature beautifully furnished, antebellum mansions with manicured gardens and guided tours; an absolute must during your stay.

Just 25 miles upriver from New Orleans is Destrehan Plantation, the oldest documented plantation home in the Lower Mississippi River Valley and the site of the movie Interview with the Vampire. See

Another highlight is Ormond Plantation; a stunning, French West Indies-style Creole plantation originally used for sugarcane. Or, rent an overnight cottage at Oak Alley Plantation, a picturesque Greek Revival mansion that is one of the most photographed places in Louisiana.

Nestled along an alley of ancient oak trees, Houmas House Plantation and Gardens is brimming with southern charm and elegance. Enjoy a guided tour of the property which has been restored to its antebellum glory and stroll around the 28 acre gardens.
