The Royal Palace

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Laos holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

Officially named Haw Kham, this former royal palace and current national museum was built in 1904 and is one of Laos' most popular attractions.

Home to the Royal Barge Shelter, a conference hall and beautiful lotus pond, you'll also find the stunning statue of King Sisavang Vong, who originally built the palace, as well as a Floating Buddha photography exhibition that features amazing images of meditating monks.

Perhaps the palace's most famous sight is the Pha Bang, an 83cm tall gold-alloy buddha.
