The Giraffe Centre Kenya

You Will Be Awe Struck By These Gentle Giants

The Giraffe Centre started life as a rehabilitation project to conserve the endangered Rothschild's giraffe – when it first opened, there were only 120 giraffes left in a ranch in Western Kenya. The Giraffe Centre, a non-profit organisation, is located 20 kilometres from the centre of Nairobi and will teach you everything you need to know about these wonderful giants of the animal kingdom.

A visit here offers you a unique chance to get up close to these stunning animals; stand atop a wooden platform and you'll be eye-to-eye with the giraffes – the closest you'll probably ever get. The staff at the centre provide you with food to feed to the giraffes for an unforgettable experience. The centre also offers a small self-guided nature walk on site with more giraffes to see, as well as a variety of plants and birdlife.

You can even stay at the centre, as the original house, which belongs to the founders, has been converted into an impressive boutique hotel called Giraffe Manor. Imagine eating breakfast as a giraffe peeks its head through an open window to blink shyly at you; at Giraffe Manor, you can live among these friendly and inquisitive creatures for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience that's completely different to anything you've done before.
