Tranquility combined with marine exploration

Designed in the style of a 13th century Swahili town, this resort is situated on the beautiful white sands of Shanzu Beach, adjacent to Mombasa Marine National Park, a great viewing point for turtles and host to 250 marine species.

Luxurious rooms are set in two-storey buildings and overlook manicured tropical gardens or the stunning Indian Ocean. For delicious fresh seafood we recommend the Jahazi Grill restaurant and if it's a little relaxation you're after, make sure to head for the excellent Maisha Mind, Body & Spirit Spa. Family suites are ideal for family groups and the children's animation programme will provide entertainment for younger guests.

Offering a free-form beachfront swimming pool and swim-up bar, sports facilities such as a tennis court and squash court and three restaurants, the Serena Beach Resort and Spa is ideal for those seeking rejuvenation in paradise.

Serenity at its best

Stayed at Serena Beach hotel in early November 2018 and my review below highlights the pros and cons with marks out of 10. PROS 1. Welcomed well and check in was fast. Super professionalism from Anastasia. Thank you. 10/10 2. Dep General manager Mr Herman  was very professional and friendly and made us feel at home immediately. 10/10 3. Food is of excellent quality and caters well for people who stay away from red meats and prefer chicken and fish like myself. The chicken biryani was a real hit. Excellent choice of salads and desserts. 8.5/10 4. Service Mostly good with some few exceptions. A few worthy mentions... Kennedy at the main restaurant was super. Chrisopher at Sokoni and Adam at Jahazi  Douglas at the pool. Lets support Jahazi grill! They serve amazing seafood. There were very few moments of unfriendly staff particularly at the pool bar and a lady chef whose colleague by error told us the samosas were chicken when they were beef which we dont eat. I found her approach rude. 7.5/10 5. Rooms and cleanliness. I was so impressed the hotel is very clean and everything in the room works. 10/10. 6. There is wifi though sometimes erratic in certain areas. CONS 1. No fault of the hotel but the public beach is a big no no for privacy. More so on weekends. 2. There must be better control at the pool. A sign reads no children under 12 in the deep end without a parent/ adult. Please implement this rule. A well laid out property which is very well managed.
