Had an amazing experience at the Masai Mara

Omaha, Nebraska

This was our first safari experience. The accommodations were outstanding and the team that took care of us was even better. We liked that the camp had fewer tents so the environment was very personal. Richard was our guide and he was amazing. We saw the big 5. We particularly liked that the camp was right on the Mara river so we experienced wildlife even in the camp.

Transformative Travel Experience

London

Before I start, it's important to note that my partner and I have travelled extensively around the world and stayed in some of the best hotels i.e. Rosewood, Four Seasons, COMO, St Regis to name but a few, so I'd like to think we have some decent travel and hotel knowledge. However, this was by far one of our most memorable experiences. It is really all about the beautiful nature and living the moment...I always joked about transformative travel experiences, but this really was something else. You are in the middle of the Masai Mara and the wildlife is all around you, just beyond expectations. Key things we loved: 1) The Landrovers can take a maximum of 5 guests and at times, it was just us or another couple...this made it very exclusive and special. I saw other Landrovers with double the amount, of guests which I didn't like 2) The guides were excellent and really tried to ensure you saw the Big 5 and more. For us this wasn't that important, as all the animals were amazing to see, no matter how small but their passion for tracking down the animals was great 3) The tent was large and comfortable. It had a rustic look to it, but it worked. Since you are in the wild, there are some creepy crawlies around, but it's part of the experience and their home after all. There was bug spray and we had not one mosquito bite 4) The setting was stunning, we just couldn't get over it, especially the early morning drives are an absolute must 5) Walking Safari: We did the walking safari with Patrick the manager and it was AMAZING, probably the highlight of our trip...to be so close to the animals was incredible...we also had a Masai with us (Julius) who was really interesting to talk to and showed us some diverse flora 6) The complimentary laundry service is great, especially if you are travelling light Overall, we could not have picked a better place and I can 100% recommend it. My only tiny critique and by all means it wasn't really an issue considering what amazing things we saw was the lunch and dinner. A bit more creativity would have been nice, but again it wasn't really a problem and the food tasted good, after all you are in the wild.
