2* Resort and rooms

Portsmouth, United Kingdom

We visted this Sandals are being advised by Sandals UK that it was one of the best around. What a joke that is. We arrived after an horrendous transfer journey that was expected to be n hour long which totalled 1hour 45 in total. After being taken to the club lounge we were taken to our suite that overlooked a shared pool. The room was appalling Im sure nothing had been done in 30years, I have never seen such antiquated Bathrooms and the bath was about 1 foot deep. This is supposed to be 5* luxury no chance about that.Being a club room there were supposed to be facilities prvided which were not there. We slept in the room as we were so tired but didnt unpack in the morning we complained and after about 6 or7 other rooms being shown we were moved to a so called Luxury room. The only difference from where we were first put was that it was in the Seaside portion of the resort and the room had been painted and was a thousand times lighter. The resort itself is split in 2 the Hillside where the Butler village is most of the club rooms and the Seaside area where there are a few clubroms but mainly ordinary rooms.Restaurant are OK the best one being Kellys on the Pier. most of the others are so so. On top of the horrendous rooms are flight with Virgin was cancelled 2 days before our return day. As we booked the vacation through Sandals UK they were our Travel Agent but nothing was heard from them and Management in situ were all but useless. All they were interested in was to charge you extra for staying due to the cancelled. On not one occassion did they help and Virgin never advised of a new flight. This meant I had to book a return flight with BA who were excellent. Do yourself a favour DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT, DO NOT BOOK VIA SANDALS UK THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO SUPPORT US

5 star luxury but some improvements needed

Boston, United Kingdom

We visited for my 30th birthday first week in March 2020. We stayed in butler G1 suite with pool hillside. I'll start with all the fantastic positives. - our butlers, vivian and Jason were fantastic. Couldn't fault either of them - our room was massive, always clean and mini bar well stocked at all times. Room was a little dark but that was probably our position on the site. - the food is absolutely fantastic. We ate in most restaurants and also had the room service and all of it was of a very high standard. - the staff in general are mostly polite and helpful, especially the groundsmen who love to have a little chat. The waitresses in the French restaurants were lovely. - the resort is clean and really well maintained in terms of the gardens etc For a few negatives - the resort is absolutely massive. It never feels crowded but getting around takes forever. The hop bus is great but I don't like spending my holiday waiting for buses to and from the beach. - the ocean bar is a nightmare. We stood for 15 mins to wait for a drink and the worst bit was we were the only ones at the bar! We placed an order with the barman and then he walked away and dissappeared! It took the girl behind the bar another 10 mins to ask if we needed a drink! - the beach front area is naff. The beach is disappointing as its practically non exsistant. Overall we had a lovely time, but mostly stayed around our villa to keep away from the noise and competitions that take place daily around the main pool. We loved the concept of a sandals resort but in the future would opt for one of the smaller resorts to suit our personal needs.
