Amazing family vacation - SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE

Cleveland, Ohio

From having a nurse and doctor provide care to my very sick 1 year old within hours of arriving ( at 4am), to the kids activities and service, everything about this vacation was amazing. I was there the week of Christmas through new years with my extended family. The place was sold out, but never really felt crowded at any time. We had a total of five children (1-11), and the evening entertainment was a big hit. Special thanks to Alex and the lifeguards for their patience and work with the kids. Between the waterpark, beach, snorkeling, arts and crafts, food, etc….I couldn’t really say a bad thing. The place needs a little TLC, especially the stairs leading up the big water slides (slippery and loose), but that is nitpicking. I was there seven nights and the kids are begging to come back. Well done.

Fantastic Family Trip

Dallas, TX

We returned last week from fantastic family trip over a long weekend at Beaches Ocho Rios with our 2 boys ages 11 and 9. We had honeymooned at a Sandals more years ago than I care to admit but this was our first experience at Beaches. This is a small resort located almost two hours from the airport. The small size and private beach appealed to me, especially since we were only there for a long weekend and I did not think we would be there long enough to be bored. To maximize our time we skipped the bus ride to the resort and instead booked a charter flight on Airlink – we waited in the Beaches lounge at the airport for about 10 minutes and then we were whisked away to our plan for the 25 minute flight – the Ian Fleming is about 3 minutes from the resort and beaches has a bus waiting for us when our flight landed. It was really neat to see the coast from the air on the way to the resort. Unfortunately heavy rain cancelled our return flight at the last minute but the Beaches staff were great about scrambling to get us on a bus to the airport to make our return flight. We stayed in the Greek section. I loved the location and the concierge service but would not choose this room again as I did not care for the layout. The two double beds proved to be too small and we took turns sleeping on the couch each night. Also the only entry is through the shared patio so if you close your curtains for privacy you also block all the light to the room. The room itself was well maintained and the bathroom was very nice with large sized toiletries including: shampoo, conditioner, lotion and shower gel as well as shower caps and bar soap. Towels were plentiful and replaced twice a day. The mini bar was stock upon arrival and refilled each day – we never had to request anything. The beach was small but great for playing – my boys made a king of the mountain game out of the water hammocks anchored off shore. The weather was not particularly sunny and we had frequent periods of rain but the water temperature was nice and we did not let the rain stop us. Staff were diligent about cleaning the beach each morning but I understand there had been significant storms prior to our arrivals so debris continued to wash onto the beach all week. We played a couple of family games on the volley ball court as well. We were able to take part in snorkeling but had Snuba cancelled due to rough seas. My husband and I went diving every morning and the dive team was very professional and happy to see us. Visibility was poor due to the recent storms but still great dives. The pools were nice as well – we spent every afternoon in the waterpark. Water temperature was nice and a little rain did not shut anything down. I was very impressed with drink service at both the beach and the waterpark, frequent service with a great smile. Towels were available everywhere almost whenever we looked. When Snuba was cancelled we scheduled a family spa treatment – my boys were so impressed with their first massage they immediately wanted to go again. Our couples massage was very nice as well, very relaxing. The kids enjoyed the Xbox room and Trench Town. This was a life saver for us at dinner as they could take off after they ate to play and my husband and I could finish dinner at our leisure. We also did photos on the beach – they were pricey at $20 a piece but we don’t get to do family pictures very often. We posed before dinner and the photos were ready by the time we were finished. We enjoyed our stay so much we stopped by the loyalty office and booked our next visit with a nice discount for booking on-site. All of the staff were fabulous and super friendly. Special shout out to our favorite bartenders Nicholas (who seemed to be at every bar we stopped by) and Annaby who made the best Purple Rains I’ve had. We also appreciated Zenaya at the Concierge lounge giving us a property tour when we arrived and booking all of our reservations for us. And Roger our dive boat captain who remembered us for stays at another resort.
