AMAZING resort in paradise!!

Secrets Wild Orchid was everything we had imagined and more! From the outstanding service, food, room service, cocktails, servers during evening entertainment, Erika at the piano bar (nurse-Heidi says ya mon!! You were amazing!) and Rican at the main-pool swim up bar (woot woot!!) this small island full of beauty will exceed every expectation you could have imagined in an all inclusive resort!! Highly recommended 10/10 for the excursions through Delta as well! Dunn’s River Falls/Blue Hole and the catamaran cruise to Negril’s famous Rick’s Cafe!! It was so beautiful!! Thanks for the most amazing trip, Jamaica! Hope to see you soon!!

Second Visit, Relaxing Vacation

Bear Creek, Pennsylvania

I have to admit I was a little nervous about some of the bad trip advisor reviews I read prior to booking our recent trip to Secrets Montego Bay. We went a few years ago and stayed at Secrets St. James. This time, we stayed at Wild Orchid in the preferred club building. The place is showing signs of wear, but it is still very nice. Here's an overview of what we experienced and how we felt about the resort. Food: There are many restaurants available for dinner and some are quite good. We really enjoyed the Japanese, Italian and French restaurants. We tried hibachi one night and actually enjoyed dining at the Japanese restaurant and ordering off the regular menu much better. The vegetable egg rolls were outstanding. As was the pad thai. The service at all of the restaurants was very good. We dined at Altitude at Breathless one night, and while the view was perfect, the service was lacking and the food was just ok. They have a lobster appetizer that's terrific, I would select that as my meal if I went back. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and lunch a couple of days and it was good, no complaints. I wish they had more options for lunch. Perhaps some beach service for salads and burgers. There is a jerk chicken cart at lunch, which was really good, and a burger shack, but I would have loved to have been able to order a nice salad by the pool. Service: We had no problems with our maid service. Room was made up each day and we had enough towels, toiletries, etc. We left a note for extra water and we got it. Check in was a breeze, staff very good. Our service by the Wild Orchid preferred pool was excellent. The girls that served by the pool were really on top of their game. This was definitely an improvement over the service we had by the pool a few years ago. Service in all of the restaurants was also terrific. 3 standouts I want to mention - Diana who serves at the entertainment stage and piano bar was phenomenal. Friendly and always remembered what we drank. Matthew, the bellhop is just fantastic. He went above and beyond, always friendly, remembered names and helped however he could. The hostess at Altitude was just a joy to be around. Although the service there was not great, she was so friendly and outgoing, she more than made up for less than perfect wait staff. We ran into some bad service during the nightly entertainment out by the entertainment stage one night, but other than that, we really had no complaints about service. The Room/Cleanliness: I do think this is lacking a bit. The room was never really that clean. There were some dead bugs in the bathroom by the toilet that were there the entire week. It became a joke between my husband and me - watching to see if they would clean up the bugs. We were having a nice time and this didn't ruin it. The room also had a really bad mildew/mold smell. It was kind of awful. It was also terribly humid in the room. They have insense you can burn with matches. We tried to strike a match to light the insense and the matches and matchbox were too damp from the humidity, so they wouldn't light. I honestly thought the bathroom in the preferred lobby was much cleaner than the room. Although some people may love the outdoor jacuzzis on the patio, I would definitely prefer a larger patio with a lounge. Wish you could have that option. Finally, my biggest complaint with the room was the noise. We were in the building adjacent to the bars and restaurants and it was really loud. We were exhausted from working through the holidays and just wanted to relax. A couple of nights we decided to turn in early, it was so loud from the music, we couldn't sleep. The night they had the talent show was the worse. It was so loud. I enjoy sitting outside on the balcony and listening to the ocean, and it was too loud to do that. Entertainment: It was pretty much the same entertainment as a few years ago. The steel drum band is terrific and the house band is also very good. Wish they had a little more variety and maybe some live music in other places across the resort. Maybe at some of the outdoor bars. The entertainment is better than many other resorts we've visited. Fitness Center & Spa: They definitely need to build a bigger fitness center. It's way too small for the number of guests. Maybe add a few classes other than yoga. The spa was my biggest disappointment. I reserved an 80-minute massage, which I was so looking forward to. When I got there they told me they only had me in for a 50 and couldn't accommodate the 80 minutes. I was trying to book a mani-pedi with the massage, and they couldn't do everything back to back, so I only ended up with the massage. I also didn't feel the spa atmosphere was relaxing and everything just there just felt rushed. Definitely not my favorite resort spa. Overall we really enjoyed our trip. We did tip throughout our trip and felt that service was very good. Ample shops, restaurants and bars. Enough space by beach and pools. With a little focus on some improvements and repairs, I think this place would be 5 stars. We did miss the peacocks and the birds. That was a nice touch.
