Great room, but resort in need of a facelift

Maidstone, United Kingdom

Travelled in late November to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Weather was great, only a couple of thunder storms, but all dried up in short time. We chose a butler level room in the Edinburgh building because it was modern and with a sea view. The room lived up to expectation, the sea view less so although I could just about see the sea I wouldn't call it a view. Spent the first morning on the main beach and everyday after that go on the boat over to the private island. Main beach was to cramped, lot quieter on the island. Pool on the island was similarly quiet. Our 2 butlers, Akine and Andre were perfect in every way. The secret is to be polite and not abuse and they will deliver everything you desire. Thank you both guys, we missed your attentive service as soon as we got home. The restaurants we ate in were very good (Le Jardineir, Regency, Eleanors and the Royal Thai). Lunch from the Jerk Shack, The Mariner and Bella Napoli were also just right. We especially liked the Thai for both the food and atmosphere and were very well looked after by Nepeng throughout our dinners there. The aircraft noise was an issue as you couldn't talk for about 25 seconds as each plane went over, although after a while you sort of got used to it. We visited the Montego Bay resort which is actually next to the runway and the noise is far louder, although a lot quicker to end. That resort has had a facelift and looked wonderful, although its proximity to the airport would stop me form staying there. We ate at the Ocealder Room and Cucina Romana in Montego Bay and they were excellent. It's worth the trip there on the bus just to use the gift shop, the staff there are warm and welcoming, unlike the staff in the shop at the Royal Caribbean, who are impolite and pushy. We only did one trip to win with the dolphins, which was wonderful, albeit that all of the trips from the tour desk are very expensive. I know friends who have stayed at non Sandals resorts on the island and done the same trips for less. Overall a wonderful holiday, although I am unlikely to visit this resort again. As a side note, we mentioned our 25th anniversary to many Sandals staff and tour agents both before and during our visit and nobody seemed interested in recognising it unless they could sell us a dinner, photo collection, etc which was quite disappointing.

Sandals 2018

Columbus, Ohio, United States

It is a great resort, small and compact. The food and service was good. It is nice to have such a large selection of restaurants. The entertainment at the Beach Party on Friday night and the Silver Birds on Monday night are must see. The staff really gets to know you.
