Lovely Staff, Enjoyable Escape

Really enjoyed our all-inclusive stay in a beach front walk-out room with butler. Some little hitches (e.g. we were in smoking area & didn't want this) but the staff got this sorted and we had a very memorable week. We loved the food and thought the quality of the food was excellent. We also ate in restaurants offered at the sister hotel (10 min away by transport) and enjoyed the food. Really fantastic selection of food, all meals super! I particularly like the spicy food at the private island, and the Jamaican style food. We enjoyed the free water activities provided - snorkeling trips, paddle boarding, kayaking etc. We enjoyed going to the sister hotel for the day as they had a bigger beach. Our hotel stay was very expensive... the friendly staff and great food really made the hotel. Things that can be improved at hotel: (1) information when booking - it can be unclear about smoking areas & what beach 'walk out' means. (There's not much of a beach either). (2) the two rooms we stayed in were a little tired; the wow factor wasn't there. (Because of amount of money we paid, and what I could get in other countries for the same money, I've scored 'Very Good' rather than 'Excellent')

Almost Perfect

Denver, Colorado

This was our 9th time visiting SRC. There have been great improvements since last year. This time, we stayed in room category OR , Crystal Lagoon Ocean view Butler Suite. We loved the room location and did have a view of the ocean a ways away. The Buckingham Building is very quiet. In this category, there are 6 rooms, 2 of which are larger than the other 4. We were in one of the smaller rooms, but have NO complaints about it at all. We were pleasantly surprised that our Butler(Nicole) on the 1st day was able to get us a table at La Jardinier for dinner that night. This is our favorite restaurant out of all between the three resorts. Odane is an amazing server that works there and remembered us from last year. We ended up eating here twice this week. Our last night onsite, our other Butler Nigy provided us a private dinner on our balcony (Available to Butler Suite Guests) and did a great job. He delivered us a 5 course meal. A few of the reasons I didn't give the resort 5 stars: 1) The airport lounge upon arrival was very disorganized. We ended waiting 45 minutes for our transfer, then they sent us and another couple on a full size tour bus. 2) The servers in all the restaurants (besides Odane) need some serious training in how to handle food allergies. After complaining to the manager of the Regency, she had one of the Chefs (Brian) come out and talk to us, and he explained he could have provided food that my wife could eat, but the server had no idea. Also, In previous years, when you walked into the Regency from the buffet, a server would at least take the ladies plate and walk you to your table. This year, that happened 1 time. 3) The spa was terrible! As Diamond members, we are eligible to receive a free 30 minute massage. They would hound you to "Upgrade" to a full hour, and once I made it clear I didn't want to pay over $150 to upgrade,it went down hill from there. I have never had such a terrible massage. At times during the massage, I couldn't breathe due to the intense pressure she was using. Not once did she ask how I was doing. After the massage, they take you back to the lobby and try to up-sell you on products like bath salts or bags filled with rice you can microwave "to relieve" muscle aches. 4) Water sports workers are NOT motivated to work or treat customers like they care if you are there or not. It is stated that they open at 8:30 am but getting anyone to help you at 8:30 was like pulling teeth. They would rather sit around and do nothing. The dive team is NOT what it used to be. Even though we are certified divers, we only went out 2 times due to the rudeness of all the water sports team. We bring our own gear, and in previous years, they would still help get you ready. Now, no one will help or touch your stuff. We did not let these few things ruin our vacation and had a great enough time that we booked again for next year, in the same room category. A special shout out to Nigy and Nicole for taking such great care of us for 7 days in paradise.
