Fabulous 2019 February return visit to Sandals South Coast, Jamaica

Carmel, Indiana

We just returned from our 10th consecutive enjoyable visitation to Sandals South Coast, Jamaica. We enjoyed our room and the housekeeping was excellent. Our enjoyment was enhanced by our two excellent Butlers. Breakfast, lunches and dinners had extensive menus and the food was excellent. We had zero issues. We're returning in 2019.

Very nice vacation

Monument Colorado

We just got back from a beautiful week to the SSC Sandals. Overall it was great, we were able to relax and it was wonderful not ever feeling like we wouldn't be able to sit by the ocean under a palapa (no need to "save" chairs). I would say the food was good, not great, but uneven. We loved Sushi by the Sea, Jasmins and Eleanors. Sushi by the Sea was the best! I had been looking forward to seafood, particularly lobster (which we can't get fresh easily where we live) and was excited to try Schooners for dinner the second night. We were really disappointed in both the lobster and the surf & turf (overall it is the weakest of all the restaurants). Gave it one more try for appetizers on the last night (steamed mussels and lobster bisque) ....another mistake. Both were SO salty they were basically inedible (and I actually like to salt my food). We aren't big fans of buffets, so a couple times, for lunch in particular, felt there was no where we were excited to go. For lunch we did pizza at Guisseppes twice (didn't really want pizza every day for lunch) and Neptunes (was ok), and the Jerk Shack (just ok, needs more options for sides). The three restaurants we liked were not open for lunch. So felt "stuck" going to the buffet at bayside for lunch (after also eating there many breakfasts) and it was just blah. I thought they could also be clearer on the "no reservations needed" messaging. We were there for Valentines day, and wanted to eat that night at Elenors. Twice we were told we didn't need reservations. We preserved (asking instead if we "could" make reservations) and they let us. We were so glad we did. On Valentines it poured buckets from like 4-6:45pm. So everyone stayed in their room and then at 7pm ran over to Elenors (and I expect Jasmins but don't know that for sure). We got there and there were like 15 people standing waiting, and 20 more arrived after we got there. It wasn't a great situation because there were only 3 seats on a bench, still drizzling outside and we saw some people leave super-unhappy when they heard that you actually could have made reservations (when like us they were told they didn't "need" them). With our reservation we stood (me in heels) for 30 min, others stood much longer. The other thing we would have liked was more nighttime (music/dancing) entertainment. We don't really like the "shows", prefer listening to live music (or DJ) with option of dancing. One night there was a country/western singer and he was great.....(it was outside and people danced, very romantic) Otherwise, we were very happy with the resort. Got the opportunity to scuba dive 3 days (6 dives). Shout out to Everett at the dive shop...he was amazing!
