An absolutely wonderful place to relax. Could be renamed the Land of Smiles

Guildford, United Kingdom

The Samaya was our final stop on an action packed RTW trip. London, LA, S Island NZ, Sydney, Cairns and Ubud. We were met at the airport by the hotel car-driver dressed in traditional costume. About a 90 min trip to the hotel but much of interest to see/ Our reception was warm friendly and efficient. At all times a notable feature of the Samaya is smiling faces and greetings from the lowliest worker to the General Manager. Smiles that seem genuine. The site is quite steep but electric buggies are there to carry people around. It was a 6 minute uphill walk from our villa to the reception but a phone call quickly brings a buggy. Our beautiful villa was spotless. In addition our private compound had a pool, 2 comfortable sunloungers, a thatched umbrella with table and chairs below and a wonderful 5 m tall bamboo structure about 4 feet in radius with a mattress for lounging, yoga, reading - we christened it the cocoon. The food was excellent-breakfast at the restaurant near reception with views out to the distant volcanoes and across the site and local ares. Breakfast can also be taken at the villa. My advice is get an inclusive breakfast package. Lunch and dinner are taken at the Swept Away by the river. Given the quality of the food, we found the prices quite modest. For lunch on our first day I ordered a snapper tempua-close to perfection. We visited the Spa daily. My wife a pediatric physio of 50 years experience raved about the technique of the masseurs. I was content to wallow in bliss. We loved the place and will return next year.

Amazing start to our honeymoon!

Manchester, United Kingdom

My husband and I spent the first leg of our honeymoon at Samaya and we were very impressed. We had one of the private villas with a pool - which was an amazing experience. We were very impressed by the level of professionalism the team displayed. It was very convenient that the hotel offered free of charge car service to and from downtown. The drivers were kind, well-spoken and patient. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back!
