Remote Oasis

Staff, food and facilities all amazing but hotel is quite a way outside of Ubud. They offer a shuttle service but last return from town is at 3pm so going into town in the evening to eat adds £15 to your bill with the cost of a taxi. It’s a great place as a base for this area of Bali for a couple of nights. There is some evening entertainment, a film with free curried popcorn and a specialty dinner buffet with Balinese dancers was offered while we were there. Only negative is that the hotel is in such a high location they can get a lot of rain.

WOW loved Alila!

suffolk

I would give this hotel more stars if I could! Stayed here for four nights to celebrate my 50th Birthday and its was exceptional. We loved our room with the outside bath tub and shower a little oasis, fabulous view of the jungle from room 125 and monkeys visited every morning. Rooms are traditional and basic but with a lovely comfortable bed and massive windows to take in the view from your bed in the morning! The pool area is as amazing as it looks and even more and Windy looks after you with towels and anything you need. He even brings homemade ice lollies round in the afternoon by the pool. Had two treatments in the spa and very impressed beautiful spa area and even got some product to bring home with my facial. We booked a day trip with the hotel and had a driver called Sweetur not sure how to spell this but we called him Sweet! He was fantastic and was so informative it was the best day ever to celebrate my special birthday. It was a really lovely touch to get a birthday cake for breakfast Yuni was so kind and after telling her how much I loved the coconut jam she came back with a jar and the recipe to take home! I'm definitely going to try to make it. Now on the food how this hotel gets some strange reviews for the food I do not know! It was wow! Breakfast - I have never experienced such a lovely spread and the menu changed daily. Fresh Fruit juices & Jamu, pastries and homemade jams exquisitely presented. Nothing to much trouble. The drinks and snacks by the pool were all such a great standard and I loved the Hibiscus petal and the Afternoon tea snacks ...... the monkeys made this so much fun always arriving at tea time!! Evening dinner was so beautifully presented I wasn't expecting such a high standard, everything was so tasteful and there was an amazing choice of traditional and western foods. Even the set menu included with our package was brilliant for choice the food. Our waiter the first night was fab when we arrived but I can't remember his name all staff were so lovely and polite everyone so friendly. Did experience the first earthquake there but staff seemed professional and not worried so it was very calming. We loved Ailia so much with its bamboo straws and just attention to detail and we then visited Alila Uluwatu it was also stunning and worth a visit but found the staff at Ubud more attentive. I really do hope to visit this hotel again someday it is the most stunning setting ..... a little slice of heaven. Thank you so much Sarah & Gary xx
