The review I wished I had seen before staying!!!

New Plymouth, New Zealand

I was a little nervous about staying at Nikko Bali because of some of the negative reviews I had read but let me tell you - do not be - it was fabulous. Yes it could have some maintenance done but what hotel doesn't. Where do I start - after getting Buffalo Tours to collect us from the airport we were driven for about 30 mins via the toll bridge to our little haven for our 9 night stay. Welcomed by the reception staff with a cool towel and a refreshing drink which was lovely. Shown to our room (Delux Ocean View) - this was huge - probably the largest room I have ever stayed in during all my travels - what you see in the photos is what you get. It had a balcony with two chairs and a lovely cool breeze from the sea. Very clean and tidy - huge king bed which was firm but not uncomfortable with heaps of different pillows to choose from. Bathroom was huge with a triangle spa bath in the corner and a large tiled shower. Just watch the toilet my hubby pulled the bidet leaver by mistake - very funny. Room had a safe and fridge and a great air conditioner that was not noisy. They have two bottles of water that you get replenished every day for free but this was not enough for us so just opposite the hotel is the main road where there are convenience stores to get more water and any other food you need. Buffet Breakfast is on from 6.30am (I think) till around 10.00am - wow what a selection you get - everything you could possibly want. Continental - cereals / yoghurt / fruit / juices - then everything else - egg station (eggs any whichway) with a lovely Japanese man who made my eggs everyday :-) the yummiest bacon I have had - baked tomatoes / potatoes / sausages - the potatoes changed everyday - Japanese food - curries - bakery/pasteries / french toast / pancakes / danishes - Oh my god everything.......fabulous. One of the best breakfasts anywhere. The pool was huge and wonderful - lots of hidden areas with beautiful frangipani trees around - yes it does have some tiles that are missing on the bottom of the pool but where they are missing is quite deep and you just work out where they are and don't stand on them - can't see how anyone could get their feet cut tho....loved the pool- spent alot of time there - the sunbeds were great - with lots available - we never missed getting any and we were not down there early. They have complimentary beach towels and you just tell them how many you require and return them back once you have finished so others can then have your lounger. The beach was not as bad as others had made out either - there is a roped off area so boats and jet skis do not enter - very safe - it is cleaned every morning and there was not a lot of rubbish at all - maybe some plastic bags but hey it is a beach. In general it was very very clean and a stones through from the edge of the pool area. Talking of jet skis etc - it does get a little busy when the tide is right as they sell jet skii and boat rides etc right next door - but hey half the fun is watching them - it can get a little smelly with the fumes of the boats etc. but nothing to really worry about. We ate at the hotel in Georgios and the Luna bar (my hubby has a delicate tummy) - the food was very reasonable (cheap for us kiwis) and very yummy - would highly recommend eating at the restaurants - there were plenty of food restaurants on the road right outside the hotel but we did not eat there. We did take the Kuta bus - which was good to do this leaves from just by the lobby entrance - were going to Bali collection also but did not realise this bus actually leaves from down on the road side by the security guards and gate - so we missed it sadly but hey ..... On the street - yes there were shop keepers wanting you to come into their shop but if you just say firmly "no thank you not interested...." they do leave you alone in Bali. We got tshirts for 60,000 ($6 NZD) each - they started at 170,000 but you do need to shop around. If you barter - they will not sell to you if it is too low - they just stop talking - so go as low as you want but you might not get the purchase. If they said what the price was I usually started under half that and then came up. Right probably enough - all in all - we will be back one day - we loved our stay at Nikko Bali the staff were all friendly and so helpful - and we would highly recommend staying here - you will love your stay as well. If you want me to answer any questions I am only to happy to do that....

Loved our stay

Sydney

Stayed here for 12 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly from reception to housekeeping and the restaurants. We stayed in an ocean view suite premier room and loved it. It was big and clean. I loved the big shower and bath and their little toiletries are great. I also loved having my own coffee pod machine in the room. The buffet breakfast had a good array of different types of cuisine and the staff were lovely, in particular the 2 gentlemen at the egg station, Yeni and Sukarmi. The pool had plenty of sun beds and nice and clean although you can see maintenance could be done on some tiles and pool lights, but it didn’t affect us. Happy hour at the swim up bar was 3-5 and then by the beach from 5-7, they had some lovely drinks. I had 2 cremebath treatments at the spa salon and she was amazing (I didn’t get her name) My kids were the only ones in kids club but they enjoyed it, playing fussball, colouring in and playstation - Sitera and Rury were very kind and looked after the boys. My only criticisms of the room would be the lighting is very dim, which can be great but there was no bright lighting at all and if you have a floor above you it can be noisy. We experienced this only halfway through our stay, I don’t know what people above us were doing but it sounded like they were running, moving furniture and thumping around to the point where I did call reception to ask if construction was being done. I usually wouldn’t mind the odd noises but I have small kids and the noise was going constantly until midnight and then early at 5am. The free shuttle to Kuta is clean and nice and cool. They did have one for Bali collection shopping centre but was being serviced the whole time during our stay. AIso, had emailed a week before to organise a little cake for my sons 7th birthday which was confirmed, upon check in I also confirmed this and the day before his birthday I checked at reception that all was ok for his cake to be in our room, each time I was told yes all ok. The day came and we walked into the room later that evening after a great day out and to my disappointment there was no cake,it was supposed to be a surprise so he knew nothing different but it upset me that I had organised and reconfirmed it twice only to find a miscommunication with the staff. Hubby went to reception to ask and they did call the kitchen who had his cake and sent it up not too long after. Despite that hiccup, we loved our relaxing stay and would return to Hotel Nikko in the future.
