Great Service and a Nice Place to Relax in Bali

Phoenix, Arizona

It was a real pleasure to relax here, let these nice folks take care of me, and enjoy the quiet ambiance of this hotel. I stayed here five nights in August 2018, left for a two-night trip to the Bedugul lake region in the north of the island, then came back here for two more nights. So, seven nights in all at The Open House. They willingly stored my luggage for me while I was away for the two nights up north. The service here that I received was outstanding. Rooms manager Cila was very helpful and friendly. She made several suggestions that made my stay more memorable and relaxing. General manager Aryu was helpful and pleasantly conversational. Jose was very nice. They work well together as a team and, for me, they really delivered excellent and friendly hospitality and service. I don't recall the night manager's name, but she was also really good and helpful. The layout of the guest rooms is a little unusual. All of them look out onto the pool area, but there are draperies. If you stay upstairs, there is a long straight flight of stairs to be traveled, but the young men who work here brought my luggage up for me. I had rooms on both levels. The water pressure for the shower was excellent. There was plenty of hot water. The shower and the toilet are located in separately glass-enclosed areas, so that the sink can be used by someone else in your room whilst another is showering or otherwise occupied. The air conditioning worked well, as did the ceiling fans. The beds were big and comfortable. The rooms have patios with a padded lounger, tables and chairs, and I loved relaxing on mine in the August day-time breeze. You see guests casually walking around this property in their robes and swimsuits. I bought a couple of their Bali batik robes; very pretty. The dining area is near the front of the property and is open-air. I always enjoyed my breakfasts there, and the other meals that I had there. The food quality is good, as is the service. The WiFi here works as well as any WiFi I have seen in Bali: pretty well, if not always perfectly. This hotel is only a 1-2 minute walk to Jimbaran Bay beach, which in my view is one of Bali's nicer tourist beaches. I enjoy it more than Kuta, Legian or Seminyak. In my experience, while there are beach businesses here to provide lounge chairs, umbrellas, food and drink, they don't pester you so much as I have seen on other beaches. It's a clean beach, too. On Jimbaran, you'll meet visitors from everywhere; it is truly an international experience. And The Open House is only steps away. Don't miss the beautiful sunsets! At The Open House, I enjoyed two great massages. One was the regular full-body massage, and the other was the warm stone massage. Both were so relaxing and therapeutic. The tables were comfortable, and a nice breeze blew through the open-air hut whilst they were performed, at the back end of the pool. The staff arranged driver and tours whenever I needed them. I took the evening tour to see the Kecak dance at Uluwatu, which I recommend if you have never seen it. My driver to/from Bedugul was arranged by The Open House staff, as were my airport transfers. Prices for everything were reasonable. Mini-marts or convenience stores are within walking distance to buy water, drinks or snacks. When I return to Bali, The Open House will assuredly be the first place to which I turn for my lodging and relaxation.
