Good but not great

Maryland

I originally booked a beach luxury tent with an ocean view, but upon arrival, I was asked to upgrade to a tent villa with a private pool. I opted to upgrade only because the "luxury tent" was neither on the beach nor had an ocean view (the property has a view of the bay, not the ocean). All you could see from the beach tent I was given was what I would call a "garden view." While I loved the beauty of the grounds and the cleanliness of this place, I don't think it was worth the price at all. Cons: 1) False advertisement. If you request an ocean view, you will not get one. When you upgrade, the price they tell you is not the price you pay. 2) The food and drinks were unreasonably expensive compared to other places I stayed while in Bali and the food did not taste nearly as good as the villa I stayed in before I came here. Additionally, they had limited vegetarian options so I ended up going to a nearby resort for food, which also offered cheaper food and drinks. 3) They charged twice the amount to book a motorbike than other places. 4) There were bugs in my bed all three nights I stayed there, and when I brought this up to the manager I was told they would "take care of it" but I still found bugs. I had more bites after leaving this place than anywhere I stayed. 5) You had to call reception every time to reach the restaurant to make an order for breakfast and request your dishes to be picked up. This was very inconvenient. I called reception at least twice with no answer. 6) They open and close the curtains for the tents at random times without asking guest preferences. 7) Besides the private pool, there was really nothing I found "luxury" about my experience. The service wasn't any different than what I received another villa that was much more affordable. Sure, they delivered breakfast to my room and offered some great amenities but they do that at other places that aren't considered "luxury." In my opinion, they should at least be all-inclusive for the exorbitant amount I paid just to upgrade to a villa and have a small private pool. Pros: 1) Very secluded, quiet place with breathtaking views of the bay and national park. 2) The beach club (not the prices for the food/drinks, but the excellent atmosphere and the fact that you can enjoy time hanging out in this clean, beautiful, open area and enjoy many activities such as kayaking). 3) Pools are clean. 4) Aside from the bug issue, rooms were clean overall (though I never knew what time housekeeping would show up and had to call on 2 occasions). They also offer free amenities such as a kimono, sandals, sanitary bags, shower cap, mouth wash, water bottles, a travel bag (to borrow), razor, and a dental kit. 5) Staff were very friendly.

Worth the drive! Beautiful Bali.

London, United Kingdom

After a week in the Ubud jungle this was a really different side to Bali. We spent 5 nights booking the 1 bedroom pool villa with a brilliant view. The room has a good design and plenty of space. The bathroom is separate to the main seating area and there is a nice lounge chair also good for a daytime nap. The bathroom has an amazing giant bath perfect for soaking and watching a Boxset in. The bed was a good size and nice pillows and bedding. The housekeeping team did a great job always giving us fresh towels and changing the sheets when asked. The food and drink at the resort are also really good and lots of choice for vegetarians and vegans. As non drinkers we also enjoyed the extensive mocktail options. Our highlight has to be the wonderful Spa. In five days I think we must of had 8 treatments between the two of us. Really good quality massage and scrubs and excellent facial. Mini who gave me both my massages has to be one of the best I have ever had around the world. The hotel organised us an afternoon trip to the national park where we saw wildlife and this was well organised. They also ran us up to the local town for a change of scenery at not much extra cost and hassle free collection. It’s a long drive here but 100% worth it. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back.
