Wonderful stay overall.

This was our first return to Candolim for about 8 years having previously holidayed in the area several times previously. We chose the Radisson mainly due to it's excellent location at the quieter end of Candolim and it recently being branded as a Radisson property also the main majority of reports on here were excellent. Our check-in was very smooth and dealt with by polite smiling staff, being an earlier morning arrival we expected our room not to be ready which was the case. We were shown the breakfast room and given a cool soft drink whilst waiting for our room to be prepared. We had opted for an upgrade to a superior room that we were delighted with (Room A101) especially location wise overlooking the pool and getting the sun on the small balcony from first light for a few hours. We were both very surprised to see snacks for sale from a bowl in the room also the mini fridge bar containing mainly soft drinks with 2 small cans of Kingfisher again with a price list. This is surely not the 'norm' for guests staying on an all inclusive basis and I personally thought this lowered the standards expected for a Radisson property. Whilst I appreciate that other guests stay on a bed and breakfast basis and these products mentioned may be appreciated by them but to charge all inclusive guests on top is certainly not normal in other establishments Worldwide. I would suggest that the management remove these products from the all inclusive rooms and properly stock the mini fridge bar which would be included in their price. As for the room although a little dated furniture wise it had everything with excellent wi-fi with and router within the room, a flat screen modern t.v. with plenty of English channels to watch too, lovely bathroom, comfortable hard bed (the kind we like), white clean fluffy towels changed every day, bedding too. The air conditioning although a little noisy functioned very well keeping the room very cool coupled with the overhead fan. Being a retired electrician I found the switching in the room a bit baffling between the various lights and the fan until I discovered an extra bank of switches hidden behind the bedside unit that were not shown to us. The wiring configuration was still very abnormal to me but we managed okay much to our frustration at times.The room safe housed in the wardrobe was one of biggest we've ever had and it held all our valuables including IPads with ease, a great asset for peace of mind. Hot water was always available 24/7 with good water pressure for the shower. The cleaning service provided by the room boys was faultless and they deserved the tips we left for them every few days, they showed their tips appreciation with their very talented on bed towel modelling. So for the food available which was generally of a good standard and choice in a nice well air-chilled dining hall it fell a bit flat for us after a few days with a generally poorer choice for Western guests so we dined out quite a few times. The sweets on display in a chilled counter away from the main sweet display looked lovely with cheesecakes etc but when asked for we were told they were 50 rupees each again for an all inclusive guest was just not expected and we point blankly refused to pay even for such a nominal charge, they should be included in the all inclusive price. These extra charges should be ironed out between the management and TUI our holiday provider with forthcoming information for their arriving guests. Staff training in the dining hall really needs to be addressed. Although all smartly dressed with happy smiling faces generally attention to diminishing stocks available with the more popular dishes was pretty poor. On many occassions the ice-cream pot was empty and re-plenishment had to be asked for, the porridge and semolina container at breakfast was often empty too. On occassions when getting up to get more food, your plate although unfinished with foodstuffs still present on it was often removed without asking if finished with, very annoying at times. There was a "4 SLICE DOMESTIC TOASTER" complete with broken handle which after a few days of obvious complaints from other guests was replaced with a more suitable commercial sized toaster but this still was to small for a 70+ roomed hotel. We later spoke to management later who said that the regular toasting machine was away being repaired. The coffee machine although producing excellent coffee with a good choice regularly broke down and was on one occasion unavailable at breakfast, the hotel should have at least two coffee machines as queuing took place regularly too. Another very annoying to ourselves and very noticeably to other guests was that the bar staff frequently vacated to bar to do other duties leaving guests looking around wondering when they'de served. Also why are guests randomly asked to sign sheets with no forthcoming information on what they are signing for. I point blankly refused to sign these sheets without first knowing what they were for. I'm sure the hotel will address these matters as it get's used to catering for more Western guests and their complaints. Overall we had a fabulous holiday and stay at the Radisson and although we spent most of our daytimes down at the beach the poolside sunbeds always had availability and the poolwater was fresh and clean well looked after by the pool boy that we watched cleaning the pool and surrounding area daily as well as providing an endless supply of pool towels. I would'nt hesitate to recommend and stay once again at this establishment on future occasions. Some of the points I've mentioned here might seem trivial to others but to us they are relevant and need to be pointed out. I'll finish this report by thanking the Radisson Candolim for providing us with a great holiday and I'm sure we'll return especially as further updating and improvements are to take place in the very near future.

I loved my stay here for 3 weeks

We have just spent 3 weeks here all inclusive over Xmas and New Year and loved our holiday . I really can not see why people moan about this hotel. The pricing is on point..the hotel is a good standard and yes a few things might need tweaking in the rooms on maintenance but the place is clean tidy and the beds very comfortable. The service was great especially the bar with Kiran The Man as we named him and Sandeep. Victor the owner is an amazing man and so caring you can not fault it. The staff went to extreme measures for Xmas and New Year and the place just looked amazing and the gala dinners put on were so very special. We will be back 100%. The location is minutes to the beach and a great place. we will return for definiate
