Expected so much more - bigger is not always better

China

Chose this hotel as I was in Goa for work for one night and wanted somewhere comfortable and reputable. This is a HUGE hotel with very well manicured gardens and well kept grounds. My impression upon walking in was this is going to be a terrific stay. However, it was very clear I arrived during off-peak season and the staff seemed very unenthusiastic and tired. It was around 5pm when I checked-in, the process was smooth but not overly informative - I was given a coral garland, a cool towel and a fresh coconut which was great. I received a generic letter outlining all the restaurants on the property but no map was provided (and I couldn't find one in the room) so finding my way around was a bit tough at first. I was escorted to my room in a golf cart and immediately noticed it was very large but also dated and worn. The bed was comfortable but the towels were somewhat grey, the tub/shower didn't look clean (but it may just be the age of the tiles). I had to call for a different iron as the one in the room was caked with mineral deposits. I appreciate most guests will probably be here on holiday so may not need to iron any clothes, but this should still be maintained by the hotel. The most unfortunate part of this stay was the mosquitos! I woke up multiple times at night with bites on my face and arms, and stayed awake for over an hour until I managed to kill a few mosquitos with a racket that I asked housekeeping for at 3am. I still had a bump on my forehead during my client meeting in the morning! My colleague who was in another block was also bitten by mosquitos during the night. Having just stayed at the Westin in Mumbai, the service here was not great. For example, after checking out I was waiting for my car to arrive. When it did, I started moving my bags and then had to go ask one of the staff members if they could give me a hand. There were not many guests in the lobby so I would've expected the staff to be paying minimal attention at least. If you read my other hotel reviews, I always call out members of staff by name for their great service, but I can't remember a single person's name at the ITC Goa. Overall, not a great stay and definitely not a hotel I would consider for a future business visit. The hotel huge potential as the grounds are gorgeous, but it needs a lot of work (and some love).

Like stepping into another world!

Fort Myers, Florida

This resort is amazing from the moment you step into the gates and come into the lobby where you are greeted with friendly faces and a cute shell necklace. This resort takes you to another place where there are activities to do, just play in the pool or relax on your terrace. Staff gives superior service all around in particular Saransh who helped my friend and I when we needed a later checkout and Linton in the Ottimo Italian restaurant who made us a special appetizer we requested. The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean. Would absolutely recommend this as the place to stay in South Goa if you want an escape from reality.
