Itinerary Breakdown

On arrival into Delhi you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Upgrade your hotel to The Leela Palace New Delhi for true luxury. 

The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Delhi at your own pace.

Drive past the Red Fort, and through the modern city built on 17th century foundations and arrive at the Jama Masjid, the most elegant mosque in India which stands high on a hillock. On the way back from this elegant temple, the tour visits Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s shrine. Next visit New Delhi - drive past the President’s House, the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the two flanking Secretariat buildings – the nerve centre of government activity. Driving down this hillock is the India Gate, the great memorial arch built to commemorate the slain heroes of World War-I and Indo-Afghan War. Around India Gate are palaces of some of the erstwhile Indian princely states that are now public offices and museums. Visit the precursor to the Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb built in 1565 AD features magnificent architecture and gardens. In the vicinity of Humayun’s Tomb is the grave of Delhi’s most revered Sufi Saint, Hazrat Nizamuddin.

After breakfast travel from Delhi for Agra which is approximately five hours drive.

In the afternoon proceed for the city tour. You will visit Agra Fort, where behind its forbidding red sandstone battlements lies palaces that tell the story of the Mughal Empire. At sunset visit the Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan in 1560 in memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. This architectural marvel is a perfectly proportioned masterpiece fashioned from white marble that stands testimony to the skill of 20,000 craftsmen and 17 years to complete this 'love poem in marble'.

In the morning after breakfast, leave for Jaipur visiting Fatehpur Sikri en-route (approx 5.5 hours). Stopping at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri was built by Emperor Akbar in 1569, in honour of the great Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti who blessed Akbar and prophesier the birth of three sons to the heiress Emperor. Akbar used Fatehpur Sikri as his capital and the city was fully occupied for 14 years, but slowly became deserted and ruined after Akbar left the city. Scarcity of water was the prime factor for the abandonment of this beautiful city.

Visit the remarkably well-preserved, graceful buildings within the 'Ghost City' that speak of the grandeur and splendour of the Mughal empire at the height of its power. After visiting Fatehpur Sikri continue on to Jaipur and check into the hotel.

After breakfast depart for an excursion to Amber Fort, a classic, romantic Rajasthani Fort Palace with stunning interiors. Miniatures painted on the walls depict hunting and war scenes, apart from festivals. Precious stones and mirrors are embedded into the plaster.

En route to Amber Fort, you will have a brief photography stop at Hawa Mahal - the Palace of Winds. In the afternoon take a sightseeing tour of Jaipur city visiting Maharaja's City Palace, the former Royal residence. A small portion is still used by the Royal family of Jaipur and part of it converted into a popular museum. Later visit the Jantar Mantar, the largest stone and marble crafted observatory in the world, with 17 large instruments, many of which are still in working condition.

Take a rickshaw ride in the local market to feel the pulse of Rajasthan.

Travel to for Bijaynagar (approx. 3-4 hours), a half way point between Jaipur and Udaipur. This quaint little town in Rajasthan's Ajmer district is a historic and cultural site. Nearby is the Great Indian Bustard reserve.
Your hotel for tonight is the Bijay Niwas Palace, a charming and romantic heritage hotel hidden amid private farmlands and orchards. Built almost 100 years ago, this former royal retreat has a great history and this evening is at leisure for you to enjoy your surroundings.

After breakfast, depart Bijaynagar and travel by road to Udaipur (approx. 3-4 hours). Arguably Rajasthan's most romantic city, the 'Venice of the East' is lapped by lakes and backed by the Aravalli hills. The city is brimming with palaces, forts, temples, museums, gardens and monuments.

On arrival check in to your hotel and the evening is at leisure in Udaipur.

Morning city tour of Udaipur City Palace, built in 1725, with its ornately decorated buildings including the Palace of Lord Krishna, Dilkhush Malal and Moti Mahal. Later visit the Jagdish Temple, built in 1651 and dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver in the Hindu Trinity of Gods.

Also stop at the Sahelion Ki Bari gardens and fountains, and drive around the Fatehsagar Lake. Late afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola (subject to water levels).

The lake is 4km long and 3km wide, and is surrounded by splendid hills, palaces, temples, bathing ghats and embankments. Visit the island palace Jag Niwas, beautifully set in the lake.

Transfer to Udaipur Airport to board your early morning flight to Kathmandu via Delhi. Arrive in Nepal's capital city mid-afternoon, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Travel by road to Pokhara (approx 5-6 hours), and upon arrival check in to your hotel - the Fishtail Lodge. This lakeside heritage hotel has the most exceptional views. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the magical surroundings of the Pokhara Valley. The rare combinations of snow-clad peaks and crystal clear lakes and rivers has helped to make this one of the most picturesque natural attractions in Nepal. The valley is dominated by the peaks of the Annapurna range, and the town of Pokhara is only 50km from Annapurna (8,091 metres).

Enjoy a tour of Pokhara see Davis Falls and visit a Tibetan refugee camp. Discover Seti Gorge - this deep narrow gorge runs through the centre of town, at some points only a metre across, with the Seti River gushing by up to 50 metres below street level. Enjoy a boat ride on tranquil Phewa Lake, the second largest lake in Nepal, encircled by hills with a pagoda-style temple. This afternoon hike (approx. 2 hours) to the Buddhist Stupa perched on a hillock just opposite Phewa Lake.

This morning travel by road from Pokhara to Kathmandu (approx. 5-6 hours). Upon arrival check in to your hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure in one of the world's oldest cities.

This morning enjoy a tour of Nepal's two holiest sites. The impressive Boudhanath Stupa is one of the worlds largest at 36 metres high. It stands with four pairs of eyes in the four cardinal direction, keeping watch for righteous behaviour and human prosperity. This Buddhist stupa was built by King Man Deva at the advice of Goddess Mani Jogini. It is built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels.

The shrine is ringed by houses of Lamas or Buddhist priests. It is common to see dozens of worshippers constantly circumambulating the stupa, while taking care to spin each of the sacred prayer wheels. Around the stupa and in the surrounding fields are many Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Close by, the richly-ornamented Pashupatinath Temple is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated amidst a lush green natural setting on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River. Visitors will be permitted to view the temple from the east bank of River Bagmati, entrance in the temple being strictly forbidden to all non-Hindus. Onwards from here you will visit Patan which is also known as Lalitpur, is the city of fine arts. It is a city of beauty and grace and is planned on a circular format with Buddhist stupas at each of the four points of the compass. You will see the Durbar Square, the Patan Durbar which houses a bronze collection, the Krishna Temple built by King Siddhi Narsingh Malla and Hiranya Varna Mahavihar. Later, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu and walk to Thamel via the old part of the city, with its narrow medieval streets and charming shrines. In Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site, you will visit the temple of the Living Goddess.

This evening, enjoy dinner and a cultural dance show at an authentic restaurant.
