The Galapagos are considered the foremost destiantion for wildlife-viewing. Located 1,000km off the coast of Ecuador, its isolated terrain shelters a diversity of plant and animal species, many found nowhere else. 

On this tour, the 22 room Hotel Silberstein is located in Puerto Ayora, 5 minutes walk from the world famous Charles Darwin Scientific Station and just 45 metres from the sea. The swimming pool is surrounded by a tropical garden which is rich in bird song.

Itinerary Breakdown

Upon arrival in Baltra you will go via bus to a small canal where you will board the ferry to take you to Santa Cruz ending at the Puerto Ayora harbour. You will be taken to Hotel Silberstein where you will spend the next 3 nights to check in a have some lunch. In the afternoon you will have the chance to visit the Charles Darwin Research Centre in Puerto Ayora. Here you will get to understand the conservation efforts promoted by this institution whilst strolling along a giant prickly-pear cactus forest where endemic land birds can be seen. Enjoy watching tiny turtle babies and giant tortoises from different islands. 

Overnight Accommodation

After breakfast you will start your full day excursion to one of the following Islands.

  • North Seymour, this Island is located north of Baltra and is one of the best places to see the Blue Footed Boobies and Frigate birds. The male frigate birds blow up their red throat pouch during their mating rituals. You will be landing near a long sandy beach, where sea lions and marine iguanas hang out, part of the trip is snorkeling on the beach of Bachas.

  • South Plazas Island, where large colonies of sea lions lounge daily in the sun. An island that boasts typical Galapaganean flora such as towering cacti trees providing a diet for both the land iguanas and the cactus finch. The trail will show you the most characteristic plant of the island, the ground cover sesuvium. During the rainy season it's colour is a green to yellowish tone, in the dry season it's bright red. You will have the possibility to swim and snorkel at Punta Carrion.

  • Bartholomew, a tiny island yet offers the most spectacular views of the Archipelago. On boardwalks, you will hike through the breathtaking landscape which seems extraterrestrial. You can relax on the long beach of Sullivan Bay or enjoy the marine life while snorkeling. 

  • Santa Fe, one of the oldest islands of the archipelago. It's age and isolation have allowed several animals to evolve, including species of land iguana, rice rat and geckho.  On the northern coast you will visit Bahia Barrington, a small tranquil bay where you can see green sea turtles, brown pelicans and blue-footed boobies resting on rocks. Sea lions are the most obvious sight on Santa Fe Island. You can go snorkeling or swimming on a smaller island near the island of Santa Fe.

Lunch will be served on board your excursion, once the day draws to an end you will return to your hotel.
