Spanning over 6,000 acres on the northern side of Sanibel Island, the beautiful J.N. "Ding" Darling Nature Refuge is not only home to a host of birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals; including endangered species such as the West Indian Manatee and Loggerhead Sea Turtle, but is also directly on the migratory path for hundreds of species of birds. You can explore this outstanding environment by car, bike, foot or take to the water and kayak, canoe or take a boat ride through the backwaters and past the banyan trees.
