Discover Santo Domingo

Uncover the history and culture of the Dominican

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Dominican Republic holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

Today Santo Domingo is a vibrant and exciting city, what we love most is how old traditions fuse so well with modern ways - towering glass skyscrapers combine with ancient colonial monuments and plazas to create a great mix and it has a fantastic restaurant scene and night life. The city  was founded by Bartholomew Columbus, the younger brother of Christopher, in 1496. The city was the first capital of the new Americas and is rich in history just waiting to be explored. The city has the Ozama River flowing straight through the centre – on the western side lies the Colonial Zone, home to many of the city’s historical landmarks and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On this two day tour, you will uncover the sites and visit museums which tell stories dating back hundreds of years, walk the streets that Christopher Columbus once walked and discover this great city. You will visit other Dominican gems along the way including the religious city of Higuey and the Altos de Chavon a replica of a 16th century Mediterranean village before heading back to Punta Cana to enjoy the white sands and crystal blue waters.
