Unbelievable resort!

We just returned from Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa after meeting another couple there and staying for nine days. We booked thru Apple Vacations, a "Six Square Apple Deal". This meant Apple made our plane reservations but didn't tell us what resort we were going to until the day before we left. The mystery was such fun and made a luxury resort more affordable for us. As our feet hit the ground, from our free transfer, an employee greeted us with a cool drink on a silver tray. Check in was fast and easy. Our room was beautiful! We spent our mornings on the beach and our afternoons at the pool. The resort has one huge pool that meanders by all 10 guest buildings. We had no problems finding an available palaypa at either the beautiful beach or the sparkling clean pool. The waitstaff was attentive and fast. Although gratuities are included, we tipped $1.00 each round. Our room was immaculate thanks to Miguela. Larisa, checked in with us many times at the pool and the lobby to make sure everything was okay. Familia was helpful and knowledgeable about wines. Waiters who made meals fun were Coffeeboy, Emmanuel, Patricia, and Super Duper Ramon. This is our fourth trip to the Dominican and our first trip to Dreams. Things we especially liked at Dreams were: no bracelets; no towel card, immaculate pool, clean bathrooms, varied activities, the truly friendly and helpful staff, no reservations necessary for dinner, and the delicious food. This resort should set the standard for travel in the Dominican Republic!

More than angry

When we arrived here we were initially impressed with this resort. It is certainly an older resort but the ambiance, landscaping design of the resort had us falling in Love. Our standard room was way too small for 3 people, not enough storage, so we upgraded to a suite, and began enjoying our vacation! Food is delicious and the pool is fantastic! We were asked to leave our room so it could be fumigated, which was fine, we are usually out of it most of the day anyway. Two days later we saw insects crawling in the closet where all of our clothes were stored. I called and a worker came and sprayed raid all over our clothing. I called to explain that this was unacceptable, and a manager came to check it out. After seeing the pictures we took, thank goodness we did, they agreed to launder all of our clothing. I expressed concern about how long it would take, as we would be stuck in the room until we had clothing back. We literally each have one outfit. She ASSURED me we would have it all returned by noon today. I just called and have been told it will be 5 or 6 this afternoon. I have said this is unacceptable, but realize there is nothing we can do. We will be stuck in this room and there is nothing we can do about it, and they do not seem to care. And even more frustrating were the two men who showed up to collect our clothing, who were rolling their eyes about having to take the laundry and made comments about how they would just step in the bugs! And, to add insult to injury, we discovered more bugs this morning. We have waited an hour and a half, and guess what the response was?? You got it, a guy with a can of raid showed up, ready to spray all our stuff with it. This time it is all our toiletries. Beyond angry with this response. And so done with this type of service. Would not recommend this hotel now to anyone. Still have to get through 6 more days....what a terrible way to spend our second week of vacation and hard earned money.
