Great Beach Vacation & Great Property

Newport Beach, California

We stayed here for 6 nights a the end of August. It was our 2nd stay at the property, the first since the renovation. - We stayed in a room on the ocean side and it was great. The screened in balcony was great. When we visited 2 years ago, we stayed in a suite. We like the room a lot more because it was so close to everything. Plus, the suites don't have screened in balconies. - The beaches are just great. Personally, I really enjoyed the ocean side. I was able to swim laps between the buoys every day which was a real treat for me. - We did the ziplining and catamaran tour booked via the hotel. Both were great. The zipline is really close to the hotel which was a plus. The catamaran tour came with two really great snorkel guides who really enjoyed pointing out sea creatures. - Compared to two years ago, there are way more complimentary activities. This was super cool. We did the bike tour - it was fun. It's not for the un-athletic. - As always, the coolest part of a Four Seasons is getting a change to talk w/ the management. We were able to go for a guided paddle board ride with the beach manager (that was awesome, so thank you!). We also enjoyed talking with the food and restaurant managers. There are a few things that could be improved. - I'm a vegetarian and the food was maybe a little odd for a few days until they figured out I was vegetarian. Once the manager learned I was vegetarian, they really made me some really great dishes. I'd suggest just having a vegetarian menu or putting more vegetarian stuff on the menus, especially at the beach and pool. - Compared to other Four Seasons & similar properties, the Kids Club activities were a little dull. Maybe it was just a slow season but my son wasn't in a rush to get there. I'd suggest stepping up the kids club activities. - The gym needs to be updated. The size is good and there are plenty of machines, but it's dark if you go after sunset. Some Kettlebells or Vipers would be cool to add. We would definitely visit this property again. The combination of beaches and nature right on site just make it great. I definitely think this is a great family vacation destination.

Pura Vida

New City, New York

Stayed at the four seasons in Costa Rica, service was excellent. Food was expensive, but very good. The buffet breakfast was great. The cooking classes are a must do, as well as the rum tasting. Would definitely go back.
