Chengdu has been the ancestral homeland to the giant panda for hundreds of years; therefore, the centre's location is poignant as well as practical. 50 giant pandas populate four reserves and a trip here will help you learn more about the giant panda, and how the many volunteers are working hard to keep them safe and out of danger. Mating season is from March to May, so if you visit in autumn or winter you could even be lucky enough to see newborns
