The Temple of heaven

Discover the Temple of Heaven to see where emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties held the Heaven Worship Ceremony. The temple is the largest existing masterpiece of China’s ancient sacrificial buildings. Explore various prayer halls and the altars where emperors would offer sacrifices during the Winter Solstice. The Temple dates back to 1420 and features the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests standing proudly at its centre.

The Ming Tombs

Just 30 miles from Beijing, the Ming Tombs are reached by the Spirit Way, guarded on both sides by giant statues of animals and men. 13 Ming emperors were buried here and each tomb consists of a main gate, a series of courtyards, a hall, the Soul Tower (Míng Lóu) and the burial mound. The three tombs open to the public are Cháng Líng, Dìng Líng and Zhÿo Líng.
