Chile's Lake District

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Chile holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

Chile's lush Lake District is a magnificent playground of peaceful lakes, raging rivers and ancient forests, towered over by snow-capped volcanoes. This wilderness area was once the territory of the Mapuche people, who fought valiantly against the Spanish for nearly three centuries.

The best thing about the Lake District is the array of outdoor activities available. If you love hiking, explore the lush rainforests; or if you love fly fishing, head to any of the multitude of lakes. From Temuco in the north to Puerto Montt in the south, you can experience horseback riding, bird watching, mountaineering, cycling and rafting in this splendid region.

Torres del Paine National Park

The Torres del Paine (Towers of Paine) jut some 2,800 metres above the Patagonia steppe. These granite pillars dominate the landscape of Torres del Paine National Park. See towering mountains, majestic lakes, cascading waterfalls, shimmering glaciers and jaw-dropping lookouts. Here you can trek, horseback ride, climb, or go mountaineering through the stunning landscape, where you may come across herds of guanacos, foxes, swans and numerous birds.
