Whether you want to zip wire through lush rainforest, hike up imposing mountains, dive down to forgotten shipwrecks, dance in the rainbow-coloured waterfalls or soothe your soul in the natural hot springs, your holiday in St Lucia can be as active or relaxing as you wish.
St Lucia is an eastern Caribbean volcanic island with mesmerising beauty at every turn. Sink your toes into the soft white sands of Anse Des Pitons beach and take in the awe-inspiring view of The Pitons. Gros Piton and Petit Piton are two cone-shaped jagged emerald green volcanic peaks that tower majestically over the island. Synonymous with St Lucia and, as a UNESCO World Heritage site, these natural wonders live up to the hype and status. Whether you climb to the summit, dive down and explore the underwater cliffs, sail around them, or enjoy the view from the beach, we highly recommend you spend time by The Pitons during your tailor made St Lucia holiday.
Head to Sulphur Springs in Soufriere to experience the world’s only ‘drive-in volcano’. Here you can enjoy a mud bath in the mineral-rich volcano water, followed by a cooling and invigorating dip at Toraille Waterfalls. Locals claim the volcanic minerals can detox the body, soothe sunburn, and even make you look 12 years younger!
Take a walk on the wild side in St Lucia
St Lucia is a honeymoon hotspot, but it’s also a walker’s paradise with its steep forested hills, breath-taking landscapes and thriving wildlife. Did you know that a whipping 77% of St Lucia is covered by lush rainforest? Among the trees there are 186 different bird species, including the St Lucia’s national bird, the Jacquot parrot. For nature enthusiasts, Pigeon Island (aptly named after the red-neck pigeon) is a great family day out. Pack a picnic and hike to see Fort Rodney, which was built by the British in the 18th century. You’ll see undisturbed forests, quiet beaches and spectacular ocean views along the way.
St Lucia’s position makes it very easy to access other islands for a multi-destination holiday. Team an active break on St Lucia with a relaxing stay on the spice isle of Grenada, or head to Barbados to discover the birthplace of rum. For a faster pace of life and just a five -hour flight away, you can be in New York and take a bite of the Big Apple.

If you’re a bit of a romantic, you’ll want to know this: St Lucia, an island named by 17th century French colonists, has some of the most seductive scenery in the Caribbean. The rainforest-cloaked Piton Mountains will blow you away and many hotels here are perfectly positioned to offer the most dramatic views.

Dive among coral reefs
Surrounding St Lucia is an astonishing network of coral reefs, which are home to thousands of species of fish and crustaceans At Anse Chastanet beach you can dive or snorkel straight from the sand. Expect to see brightly coloured parrotfish, spotted moray and anemones.

Relax on the beach
St Lucia is the Caribbean as you imagine it - white sand beaches, palm trees and piña coladas. There are few experiences more pleasurable than an afternoon spent on a sun lounger, the sound of the surf in the distance and the scent of sun cream in the air. Should you be in the mood for something more lively, you can charter a boat and explore some of the island’s hidden coves.
Best time to visit St Lucia

"Hike to the summit of Gros Piton in the first few days of your holiday. To avoid the heat and rain, guided tours usually have an early-morning start. This is a great way to get over your jet lag and is an invigorating start to your holiday in St Lucia. The views from the top are unbeatable."

"Create your very own chocolate bar in St Lucia with a visit to Hotel Chocolat’s Rabot Estate cocoa plantation. From de-shelling the cocoa beans to creating the recipe, this is a unique and unforgettable experience, and it’s an absolute must if you are a chocolate lover."
Events & Festivals
There’s always exciting events going on in St Lucia, from weekly street parties - or jump-ups as they are known locally - and fish fries, to music festivals and cultural celebrations. Here are a couple of our favourite events.
The Saint Lucia Jazz Festival
Every May, St Lucia comes alive with music to celebrate the Caribbean and international jazz scene. The open-air finale concert at Pigeon Island National Landmark is definitely one for your diary.
Saint Lucia Carnival
Have you got a Caribbean carnival on your bucket list? Tick it off during your St Lucia holiday. Taking place in July, this two-day festival is great for people looking to experience a smaller carnival with a unique vibe. The local Dennery soca that is played is very different in style to the other Caribbean islands.
Creole Heritage Month
Learn about St Lucia’s fascinating history and culture when you holiday on the island during the month of October. This month-long celebration explores St Lucia’s French-Creole heritage through dance, art, theatre, food and music.
Local Cuisine
At the heart of St Lucian cuisine you will find a diversity of American, European, Indian and Caribbean flavours. St Lucia is rich in fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, so even the most discerning foodie won’t be disappointed. This is coupled with outstanding restaurant locations - you can tuck into delicious cuisine on the beach with a view of the Pitons, or high up among the rainforest canopy!
Green figs and saltfish
Try this hearty dish, which mixes unripe bananas with salt-cured flaked cod, and packs a punch with its flavoursome herbs and spices. As the island’s national dish, it’s a definite must-try during your holiday in St Lucia. Pair this with callaloo soup - made with indigeneous leafy greens - or a side order of breadfruit, a staple in St Lucia that’s similar in taste to sweet potato.
Hot Creole bread
Stop at the local bakers to taste St Lucia’s hot Creole bread. It’s similar to French bread, but much sweeter!
