The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

The place to see and be seen

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Cape Town holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

In its prime location, opposite Table Mountain, this is Cape Town's tourist centre – attracting 24 million visitors every year – and it's a place where historical harbour meets modern shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure.

As Cape Town's premier shopping destination, the V&A Waterfront houses more than 450 retail outlets – from fashion and jewellery to homeware and audio-visual equipment, as well as arts and crafts. Besides the plentiful opportunity for retail therapy, you'll enjoy street performers and musicians in the bustling market areas.

Foodies will be in their element, too – with everything from fast food and coffee shops to fine dining via the culinary delights of the artisanal V&A Food Market. And there's even a ferris wheel – the Cape Wheel – cinema and the excellent Two Oceans Aquarium – perfect for a family day out. Chavonne Battery Museum and Iziko Maritime Centre are highlights for history enthusiasts. After a day spent exploring, stop off at one of the many bars to sip on chilled sundowners – from local wines to craft beers and cocktails – as you relax and admire views over the Atlantic Ocean.

The V&A Waterfront remains a working harbour, with boats bringing in fresh fish and seafood for the many restaurants located here, as well as onward distribution. In addition, the harbour is also the departure point for numerous boat tours, including sunset cruises, and trips to Robben Island
