Table Mountain

Admire the awesome views from Cape Town's icon

Every year, millions of people take the aerial cableway to the top of Table Mountain – South Africa's most iconic landmark – to enjoy the stunning views and amazing sights from the summit.

Standing at 1,067 metres above sea level, the flat-topped summit of Table Mountain offers the most breath-taking vistas of Cape Town and the ocean beyond. As well as the cable car, you can also hike to the top, where there are several walking trails just waiting to be explored.

At around 600 million years old, Table Mountain is a true South African showstopper and one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature: beautiful at every angle and jaw-dropping in its stature.

Top Tips from our Experts

Destination Executive

"I recommend you get up and join the line for the cableway early, as on good, clear days the queues get big really quickly – or buy your tickets online, in advance."

Senior Destination Manager

"Wear comfortable shoes so that you can enjoy the trails at the top; and take a light jacket or jumper as it can be chilly, when the sun goes in."
