Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

Beautiful landscaped garden at the foot of Table Mountain

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Cape Town holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

Founded by Cecil Rhodes in 1895, this beautiful landscaped garden at the foot of Table Mountain celebrates the natural beauty of South Africa with a plethora of beautiful plants and flowers, many of which are completely unique to Cape Town.

Acclaimed as one of the most stunning botanic gardens in the world, few can match Kirstenbosch's splendour, largely thanks to its spectacular setting and fantastic backdrops. Stroll through the grounds and enjoy the pretty fynbos, cycads, lush lawns and duck-filled ponds, or sit back and enjoy a Sunday evening concert during the summer months.

The gardens have distinct areas to explore: from the Water-wise Garden where you can learn how to grow beautiful plants with less water, to the Medicinal Garden that will show you some of the diverse medicinal plants found in South Africa. With this wealth of biodiversity, it's no wonder this garden is so admired.
