Boulders Beach - Cape Town

Penguins, penguins, penguins

Beautiful Boulders Beach is the perfect place to spot the friendly African penguins who have made the ancient granite boulders their home.

Roughly 60,000 travellers head here each year to enjoy the soft white sands and warm waters as well as meet the famous penguin colony, the only penguins to be found on the continent. Head down one of the three boardwalks – meandering through dunes and vegetation, and designed to conserve the environment and aid access – to get a great view of the cheeky chaps waddling around the rocks, or visit Foxy Beach for a more up-close experience.

"The substantial granite boulders protect the beach from wind and large waves, meaning that the waters here are calm enough to swim, so why not take a dip while you're here."
