Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal

One of Montréal's most famous landmarks, the Notre-Dame Basilica is a stunning example of grand Catholic design and stands proudly against the city backdrop.

Built in 1829 on the site of a smaller church, the cathedral is now home to one of the world's famous Casavant organs as well as the Gros Bourdon, said to be the biggest bell in North America. But perhaps the landmark's greatest feature is the floor-to-ceiling bronze alterpiece that proves quite the eye-catching sight.

If you're visiting Montréal, be sure to add a trip to this world-famous cathedral to your itinerary.
