Known for its acres of colourful flowers, manicured greens, tranquil lily ponds and serene fountains, the Butchart Gardens have inspired nature lovers for over decades. Butchart Gardens was originally a quarry for a cement plant but was transformed by Jennie Butchart into the beautiful gardens you see today and is still family owned. During the summer evening the gardens transform with thousands of lights, on a Saturday during these months stay to see the Firework Show which is choreographed to music. If you are visiting during Autumn make sure you visit the the Japanese Garden to take in the truly remarkable colours. The Magic of Christmas carolers and ice skating rink alive in the gardens, when gardens are filled with Christmas trees and lights. 

This green-fingered sanctuary welcomes more than a million visitors a year, and it's not hard to see why. No matter what time of year you visit, you're guaranteed a wonderful display of bursting flowerbeds, towering maple trees and peaceful, sunken gardens. If you're visiting in Spring, you'll get to see the gardens come to life again after the winter hiatus, while if you're taking a trip in Autumn, you'll see the kaleidoscopic colours fade to shades of red, gold and orange as the maples make their mark.
