Tres Charmant!

Saint Marys, PA

My husband and I loved this charming hotel in the heart of old Montreal. Our room was spacious and well-appointed ~ the stone and brick walls create a romantic, historic atmosphere throughout the building. The lounge area provides cozy seating, and the attached restaurant, Verses, serves a delicious, convenient continental breakfast included in the room rate, although guests may order a la carte and have a credit provided toward their bill. The rooftop restaurant allows convenient access to meals and cocktails, as well. The hotel is located on Rue St. Paul, one of the oldest streets in Montreal and certainly one of the most pleasant, with its old world views. One feels transported to Europe with the narrow cobblestone streets and multiple cafes, all within short walking distance of myriad landmarks not to be missed, such as Bonsecours Market and the Notre-Dame De-Bonsecours Chapel. The staff is delightful, as well. We were warmly welcomed the instant we arrived. It was also a relief to find that everyone in the hotel speaks English, relieving us from subjecting both of us to my terrible French. A special shout out to Clement, the valet who first welcomed us and provided us with fantastic recommendations. A few other notes - the hotel is very clean, the mini-bar is well-stocked, and the turn down service provides water at night. I love the Santal 33 amenities. Also, the staff was aware that my husband and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and sent us some cake to celebrate ~ very nice touch! Drivers should be aware that the cobblestone roads are being replaced, making driving somewhat challenging in the area, but I did not find that it unduly impacted our stay. I highly recommend this hotel. When we return to Montreal, we will not even consider another lodging option. Thank you, Hotel Nelligan, for a wonderful experience!

Lovely hotel in the heart of Montreal

Sherborne, United Kingdom

The rooms are very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern. The breakfast was not good at all though. Just a very dull continental spread with nothing exciting at all. What a shame for such a good hotel to offer something so poor.
